Nets and Celtics Tangle in Atlantic Division Battle
The Brooklyn Nets take on the Boston Celtics at TD Garden on Wednesday night.

The Nets (9-8) have persevered in the ongoing absence of Kyrie Irving with a shoulder injury, as they'll come into Wednesday's contest having notched four consecutive wins. Their most recent triumph came against the Cleveland Cavaliers, which they edged by a 108-106 score Monday night. Spencer Dinwiddie led the way for Brooklyn with 23 points, adding nine assists, one rebound and three blocks. Jarrett Allen followed with a 22-point, 21-rebound double-double that also included three assists, two steals and two blocks. Joe Harris provided 19 points, six rebounds, one assist and two steals. Taurean Prince delivered 18 points, six boards, four assists and one steal.

The Nets will continue to be without Irving (shoulder), Caris LeVert (thumb) and Wilson Chandler (suspension) for Wednesday's game. DeAndre Jordan (ankle) will be listed as questionable.

The Celtics (12-4) have dealt with a couple of key injuries in their own right, but they'll still head into Wednesday's contest with perfect home record and having just snapped a two-game losing streak with a 103-102 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Monday night. Jaylen Brown paced the Celtics with 24 points, adding four rebounds and one steal. Jayson Tatum registered 20 points, six boards and three assists. Marcus Smart provided 17 points, seven assists, three rebounds, five steals and one block. Enes Kanter drew the start and compiled 13 points, nine boards, two assists and one steal.

The Celtics will list Kemba Walker (neck) as probable for Wednesday's game, while Marcus Smart (hand) will be listed as questionable. Daniel Theis (illness), Romeo Langford (ankle) and Gordon Hayward (hand) will all remain out.

The two teams split the four-game 2018-19 season series. Wednesday's game is the first of four meetings for Brooklyn and Boston.

Cavaliers Host Magic on Wednesday
The Cleveland Cavaliers play host to the Orlando Magic at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Wednesday,

The Magic (6-10) have had some serious road woes this season, as they've yet to pick up a win outside of Orlando. In fact, the Magic carry an 0-7 road record into this game which is easily the worst mark in the NBA. Those horrible road numbers would make it hard for any team to compete but Orlando has been pleasantly good at home, posting a 6-4 home record. This is probably their best chance at a road victory but they'll have to do it shorthanded. Both Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic are out for a few more games and it's simply tough to compete without your two best players. That means it's time for Markelle Fultz and Evan Fournier to carry the load, as those two are plenty capable of grabbing a win here.

The Cavaliers (5-12) are coming off a defeat at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets in their most recent game which marks their seventh loss over their last eight games. That terrible stretch has lowered Cleveland to the bottom of the Eastern Conference Central standings, giving this team an uphill battle for the coming months. Where they're really hurting is on the offensive end, with the Cavs sitting 28th in points scored and 27th in field goal percentage. It's really no surprise when you look at the roster too, as Kevin Love is the only guy who has All-Star aspirations. One has to wonder just how long he'll stick around though, with Cleveland needing to add young pieces for the future. Shipping him off for young assets or draft picks may be what's best for this franchise and it'll be interesting to see what they do over the next few months.

Orlando won the first meeting between these teams, 94-85, on October 23. That marked the Magic's fourth win in their last five games against Cleveland.

Jazz and Pacers Tangle in Midwest Battle
The Utah Jazz takes on the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.

The Jazz (11-6) aren't quite garnering the headlines of some of the other Western Conference elite, but they're enjoying a solid season and check into Wednesday's contest having won three of their past four games. However, their one loss during that span came their last time on the court, as they dropped a 122-118 decision to the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night. Bojan Bogdanovic led the way with 24 points, adding four assists, three rebounds and one steal. Donovan Mitchell managed 20 points, three assists, one rebound and two steals. Joe Ingles furnished 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and one steal. Georges Niang posted 13 points and five boards, while Emmanuel Mudiay turned in 12 points, five rebounds and five assists.

The Jazz will list Rudy Gobert (ankle) as questionable for Wednesday's game. Ed Davis (lower leg) will remain out.

The Pacers (10-6) come into Wednesday's game in the midst of an impressive stretch themselves, as they've secured three consecutive victories. Their most recent success came at the expense of the Memphis Grizzlies, which they bested by a 126-114 score on Monday night. T.J. Warren led the Pacers with 26 points and added four rebounds. Jeremy Lamb poured in 19 points and also posted four rebounds, four assists and one steal. Aaron Holiday generated 16 points off the bench. Malcolm Brogdon registered 14 points, eight assists, six rebounds and one steal in his return from injury. Domantas Sabonis supplied a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double that also included six assists and two steals. T.J. McConnell had 11 points, six assists and five rebounds off the bench.

The Pacers will continue to be without Victor Oladipo (knee) on Wednesday. JaKarr Sampson (back) will be considered doubtful, while Edmond Sumner (hand) will be listed as questionable.

The Pacers swept the two-game 2018-19 season series. Wednesday's game is the first of two 2019-20 meetings for Utah and Indiana.

Kings Tangle With 76ers in Interconference Battle
The Sacramento Kings take on the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night.

The Kings (7-9) have largely been playing competitive basketball lately, although as evidenced by their 3-2 mark over the last five games, it hasn't always resulted in victory. The most recent example came in Sacramento's 103-102 loss to the Celtics on Monday night. Buddy Hield led the way with a career-high 41 points and complemented them with five rebounds, two assists and one block. Harrison Barnes poured in 20 points. Bogdan Bogdanovic delivered 13 points, eight assists, one rebound and one block. Richaun Holmes supplied eight points, five boards, two assists, two blocks and one steal.

Bogdanovic (hamstring) will be listed as probable for Wednesday's game. De'Aaron Fox (ankle), Trevor Ariza (groin) and Marvin Bagley (thumb) will continue out.

The 76ers (11-6) check into Wednesday's contest with an unblemished seven-game home record and victories in four of their last five games. However, their only loss during that span came their most recent time on the court, when Philadelphia dropped a 101-96 decision to the Toronto Raptors on Monday night. Josh Richardson led the way with 25 points, six rebounds, one assist and one block. Tobias Harris supplied 18 points, five boards, two assists and one steal. Mike Scott led the second unit with 12 points, while Al Horford generated an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double that also included four assists and two blocks. Ben Simmons compiled 10 points, 14 assists, nine rebounds and two steals.

The 76ers will continue without Kyle O'Quinn (calf) for Wednesday's contest.

The two teams split the two-game 2018-19 season series. Wednesday's game is the first two 2019-20 meetings for Sacramento and Philadelphia.

Pistons and Hornets Do Battle in Carolina Showdown
The Detroit Pistons take on the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center on Wednesday night.

The Pistons (6-11) have endured a rough start to their season, as their record implies. However, Detroit has been better of late, securing two of its six wins over the last three games. Their most recent success came the expense of the Orlando Magic, which they toppled by a 103-88 score Monday night. Luke Kennard led the way with 20 points, adding seven assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block. Blake Griffin supplied 17 points, five boards and two assists. Bruce Brown managed 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal. Langston Galloway, Christian Wood and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk all contributed matching 12-point tallies.

The Pistons will list Reggie Jackson (back) and Khyri Thomas (foot) as out Wednesday. Tony Snell (hip) will be listed as questionable.

The Hornets (6-12) have been involved in a season-long struggle themselves, and they'll check into Wednesday's contest having dropped a 117-100 decision to the Miami Heat on Monday for their fifth straight loss. Terry Rozier led the Hornets with 19 points, adding nine rebounds and five assists. Devonte' Graham delivered 16 points, eight assists and three boards. Malik Monk supplied 13 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal. Bismack Biyombo managed 11 points, five boards and one assist. Cody Zeller posted 10 points.

The Hornets will list Malik Monk (finger) and Cody Zeller (hip) as probable for Wednesday's game.

Wednesday's game marks the second of four meetings between the teams this season. The Hornets hold a 1-0 series lead, having notched a 109-106 victory Nov. 15.

Knicks and Raptors Tangle North of the Border
The New York Knicks take on the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday night.

The Knicks (4-13) have endured as rough a start to their season as their record implies, as New York will come into Wednesday's game having dropped three straight games. Their most recent stumble came against the intra-city rival Brooklyn Nets, which edged them by a 103-101 score Sunday evening. Marcus Morris paced the Knicks with 26 points while also pulling down four rebounds and recording a steal. Julius Randle totaled 15 points, eight boards and four assists. Wayne Ellington pitched in 12 points, three rebounds and two assists, while Dennis Smith, Jr. furnished 10 points, five assists, two rebounds and one steal. Taj Gibson and Frank Ntilikina had matching eight-point tallies, with Gibson also pulling down eight boards.

The Knicks will list Reggie Bullock (back) and Elfrid Payton (hamstring) as out for Wednesday's game. R.J. Barrett (illness) will carry a questionable tag.

The Raptors (12-4) check into Wednesday's contest riding a hot streak, as they've won four consecutive games, and eight of their last 10 contests overall. Their most recent success came against the Philadelphia 76ers, which they bested by a 101-96 score Monday night. Pascal Siakam paced the Raptors with 25 points, adding seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal. Fred VanVleet poured in 24 points and complemented them with eight assists, three rebounds and two steals. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson generated a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double that also included three assists. OG Anunboy furnished 12 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. Terence Davis and Norman Powell supplied 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Raptors will continue to be without Kyle Lowry (thumb), Matt Thomas (finger), Patrick McCaw (knee) and Stanley Johnson (groin) for Wednesday's game. Serge Ibaka (ankle) and Dewan Hernandez (thumb) will be listed as doubtful.

The Raptors swept the four-game 2018-19 season series with the Knicks. Wednesday's game is the first of four 2019-20 meetings between New York and Toronto.

Rockets Host Heat on Wednesday
The Miami Heat travel to Texas to play the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center on Wednesday.

The Heat (12-4) have been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA, posting the third-best record in the Eastern Conference. While many people didn't know what to expect from this team at the beginning of the year, it's clear now that this club is a threat. While the addition of Jimmy Butler is obviously a huge plus, the growth of Bam Adebayo might be the biggest reason they've seen so much improvement. He's not the only one, as they've gotten great performances from rookies like Kendrick Nunn and Duncan Robinson too. That doesn't even take into consideration that Goran Dragic has happily decided to take on a bench role, making him one of the early favorites for Sixth Man of the Year with his stellar play. All of these pieces have Miami in a great spot and this is a team no one wants to face right now.

The Rockets (11-6) looked like one of the best teams in the league after the first 14 games but they actually enter this matchup losing three-straight. That's easily their worst run of the season but they all came against tough competition. In fact, the first two losses came on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets while the most recent defeat came at the hands of Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. It's certainly no fault of James Harden though, with the superstar southpaw averaging 37.9 points and 8.0 assists per game. If he can continue to do that while Clint Capela racks up 20-rebound games at ease, this will be a team to fear down the line.

Miami dominated Houston in their first meeting this season, 129-100. Prior to that, these teams split their previous six meetings, with all six games being decided by a single-digit margin.

Rolling Bucks Host Sinking Hawks
The Milwaukee Bucks play host to the Atlanta Hawks at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday evening.

The Bucks (14-3) have won eight in a row, as they are rolling through their competition behind the great play of their MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Antetokounmpo is averaging team highs with 31.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game, as he is doing it all for the Bucks. Eric Bledsoe has been solid, averaging 17.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game, while Brook Lopez is averaging 10.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and a team-high 2.6 blocks per game. Khris Middleton (quad) has missed the last seven games but is expected to be ready for action on Wednesday. This marks the fourth and final game of a home stand for the Bucks, who are 6-1 at home. The Bucks are averaging a league-best 119.9 points per game.

Meanwhile, the Hawks (4-13) have dropped seven in a row, as they have hit a major rough patch. They lost some momentum when John Collins (suspension) was sidelined and despite other guys stepping up, the Hawks have yet to find a groove. Trae Young is doing all he can to lift the team, as he is averaging team highs with 26.6 points and 8.7 assists per game. Jabari Parker, who saw an increase in his role since Collins' has been out, is averaging 16.9 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds per game. De'Andre Hunter has had a couple big games recently, including two nights where he topped 25 points, and is averaging 14.5 points while shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc over his last 10 games. The Hawks are giving up an average of 118.1 points per game, which is fourth most in the league.

Grizzlies Host Clippers on Wednesday
The Memphis Grizzlies play host to the Los Angeles Clippers at FedEx Forum on Wednesday.

The Clippers (13-5) have been one of the best teams in the NBA, as three of their five losses have come without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. That shows just how dangerous they can be but they very well may be without one or both of those guys here. The reason for that is because they both played on Tuesday in a win over the Dallas Mavericks and the Clippers have been hesitant to play these guys in the second half of back-to-back sets. The good news is that there's still plenty of talent without those two, with Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell forming the best bench duo in the NBA. That's something that doesn't get talked about enough with this team, as they regularly destroy other team's second units. If George and Leonard take care of the starters while Williams and Harrell take care of the backups, this team will be hard to beat.

The Grizzlies (5-11) come into this matchup losing four-straight games which actually followed up a season-best three-game winning streak. Stretches like that are very common for a young team like this though and the fans have to be encouraged by the development. Ja Morant has been the true bright spot, as he looks like the early favorite for Rookie of the Year. The next step is to get Jaren Jackson Jr to stay out of foul trouble. The big man has the highest foul rate in the NBA and that's really frustrating with the talent he possesses. If he can just egg that out of his game and stay on the court, this could be one of the best duos in the NBA too.

Los Angeles has won five of their last six games over Memphis dating back to last season.

Spurs Host T'Wolves on Wednesday
The San Antonio Spurs play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves at AT&T Center on Wednesday.

The Timberwolves (9-8) are one of those rare teams that have home/road splits that are not what you'd expect. A young team usually thrives at home while struggling on the road but it's been opposite for this team. In fact, Minnesota currently owns a 6-2 road record and a 3-6 home record. There's really no explanation for that and it's truly hard to understand. Minnesota comes into this matchup struggling too, losing four of their last six games in total. The 23rd-ranked defense is definitely a major reason why but Minnesota fans have to love the improved play from Andrew Wiggins. The former top-pick is in the midst of a career season and this is the guy they've been waiting to see for years. As long as he keeps performing and as long as Karl-Anthony Towns keeps balling out, this is a team to fear in the west.

The Spurs (6-12) record is truly shocking, as this is the worst start since David Robinson played for this team. That was a long time ago and it seems very likely that San Antonio's 20-year playoff streak is going to come to an end this season. That's a truly miraculous stretch but this is a different team. While they do have All-Stars like DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge, there's simply no defensive mindset right now. That's evident when you see that they rank 24th in total defense, which is truly mind-blowing from a team that's perennially a Top-5 on that end of the floor. What's really frustrating is the fact that these guards continue to eat into one another's playing time. Derrick White and Dejounte Murray have shown flashes of brilliance throughout their careers but neither has found any consistency with players like Bryn Forbes and Patty Mills eating into their minutes. Things simply won't change until all four of these guys are comfortable.

San Antonio has won 18 of their last 21 games against Minnesota, despite the T'Wolves winning their one meeting this season, 129-114.

Suns Host Wizards on Wednesday
The Washington Wizards travel to Arizona to face the Phoenix Suns at Talking Stick Resort Arena on Wednesday.

The Wizards (5-11) just had to play a game in Denver on Tuesday, losing 117-104 at the hands of the Nuggets. That was expected to be a loss and it's becoming clear what the issue is. This team's defense is downright atrocious, ranked 29th in points allowed. In fact, they're one of only two teams who are allowing over 120 points per game. That obviously won't get it done and it makes it even harder when you have only one dangerous player on offense. That happens to be Bradley Beal, who's averaging 29.6 points and 7.1 assists per game this season. That has made him a huge trade target and it's a wonder if this team will hold on to him, as they're in desperate need of a rebuild. He and John Wall are their only valuable assets on this roster and this franchise needs to decide if those two will get them out of this hole or if these two will get them the pieces to start rebuilding. In any case, things need to change sooner rather than later.

The Suns (8-8) got off to a majestic start this season, winning five of their first seven games. Since then, they have regressed big time. In fact, Phoenix is just 3-6 over their last nine games, albeit against tough competition. The thing that's been killing this team is their injuries, with guys like Aron Baynes and Ricky Rubio both nicked up. Those were two huge offseason acquisitions and both of those guys were a major reason why they got off to such a nice start. That doesn't even take into consideration that DeAndre Ayton is suspended too and it's a wonder if they can ever get back to that early-season form. The good news is that Rubio enters this matchup probable, almost fully recovered from his back injury. If they can get him back while adding Ayton and Baynes to their frontcourt, this could be a sneaky playoff threat in the west.

Washington has dominated this series over recent years, winning seven of their last eight games against Phoenix.

Pelicans Host Dominant Lakers
The New Orleans Pelicans play host to the Los Angeles Lakers at Smoothie King Center on Wednesday evening.

The Pelicans (6-11) have dropped two in a row, as this marks their return home after a three-game road trip, where they went 1-2, with a win in Phoenix, followed by losses in Utah and L.A. (Clippers). The Pelicans have won their last three home games and are 4-4 at home. They are allowing their opponents to score 120.4 points per game, which is most in the league. However, the Pelicans are averaging 116.0 points per game, which is fifth most in the league. Brandon Ingram leads the Pelicans with team highs of 26.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Jrue Holiday has picked up after a slow start to the season and is averaging 20.9 points and 7.5 assists over his last 10 games. J.J. Redick continues to get the job done as a sharpshooter, averaging 15.1 points on 44 percent shooting, including 47 percent from long range.

Meanwhile, the Lakers (15-2) own the best record in the league and have won eight in a row. This marks the fourth and final game of a road trip for the Lakers, who are 7-1 on the road. LeBron James is averaging team highs with 25.6 points and 11.0 assists per game. Anthony Davis is averaging 25.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.9 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has stepped up his game, as he is shooting 52 percent from the field, including 51 percent from long range over the last 10 games. The Lakers lead the league with 7.5 blocks per game. They are shooting 48 percent from the field, which is third best in the league.

Trail Blazers Back Home After Long Road Trip
The Portland Trail Blazers play host to the Oklahoma City Thunder at Moda Center on Wednesday evening.

This marks the first game back home after a six-game road trip for the Trail Blazers (6-12), where they went 2-4, with wins in the first and last games of the trip. Carmelo Anthony joined the team in the midst of the road trip and will be making his home debut on Wednesday. Anthony led the Trail Blazers with 25 points on 10-of-20 shooting, in their most recent win. He is averaging 16.0 points and 5.3 rebounds over his four games, so far. Damian Lillard has been quiet lately but still leads the Trail Blazers with an average of 27.3 points per game. C.J. McCollum has been playing well, averaging 22.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. The Trail Blazers are scoring an average of 112.7 points per game but are giving up an average of 115.1 points against. They have dropped two of their last three home games and are just 1-4 at home.

Meanwhile, the Thunder (6-10) ended a three-game slide with a win in their most recent contest. The win marked their first road win of the season, as they are just 1-6 on the road. The Thunder average 106.7 points per game, which is seventh fewest in the league, while they give up an average of 107.1 points against. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been a great addition for OKC and is averaging a team-high 19.2 points per game. Danilo Gallinari has also been a welcomed addition, averaging 18.6 points on 44 percent shooting. Chris Paul is averaging 16.2 points and team highs with 5.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Dennis Schroder has been playing well lately, averaging 15.2 points, 4.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds over his last 10 games.

Warriors Look To Get Back On Track At Home
The Golden State Warriors play host to the Chicago Bulls at Chase Center on Wednesday evening.

The Warriors (3-15) have dropped three in a row, as their struggles continue and they remain hampered by injuries. In addition to missing Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green (heel) remains questionable for action on Wednesday, while D'Angelo Russell (thumb) is not expected to play. All the injuries have allowed opportunities for guys like Eric Paschall, Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III, who have all taken advantage. Paschall is the Warriors' leading scorer among active players, averaging 16.5 points per game. Robinson III is averaging 12.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game, while Burks is averaging 14.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. The Warriors are averaging 107.6 points per game but are giving up an average of 117.6 points against, which is fifth most in the league. They are averaging 9.6 three-pointers per game, which is the second fewest in the league.

Meanwhile, this marks the first game of a three-game road trip for the Bulls (6-12), who are 3-5 on the road this season. Zach LaVine leads the Bulls with 21.1 points per game. Lauri Markkanen has had a slow start to the season but is the Bulls second-highest scorer, with 13.6 points per game. Rookie, Coby White has shown lots of promise early on, as he also averages 13.6 points per game. Wendell Carter Jr. has been solid at the center position for Chicago, averaging 12.8 points and a team-high 9.8 rebounds per game. The Bulls are shooting 42.8 parent from the field, which is second worst in the league. However, they are averaging 9.6 steals per game, which is the most in the league.
