Celtics and Nets Meet Up For Second Game of Back-to-Back
The Boston Celtics take on the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on Friday afternoon.

The Celtics (13-4) check into Friday's contest sporting a record made all the more impressive by some of the notable injuries they've endured this season. Boston has most recently prevailed in three of its first five games, with their most recent victory a 121-110 win over the Nets on Wednesday night. Keba Walker led the way with 39 points and added six rebounds, four assists and one steal to his game-high scoring total. Jaylen Brown contributed 22 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block. Jayson Tatum chipped in 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists and one steal. Daniel Theis tallied 14 points, eight boards, one assist and two blocks. Brad Wanamaker paced the second unit with 13 points, while Marcus Smart compiled 10 points, five assists and four rebounds.

The Celtics will continue to be without Gordon Hayward (hand) on Friday.

The Nets (9-9) have mostly been dealing effectively with the prolonged absences of Kyrie Irving (shoulder) and Caris LeVert (thumb), as they'll come into Friday's game with four victories in their last five games. However, their one loss during that stretch came their last time on the court, when they dropped the aforementioned 121-110 decision to the Celtics on Friday. Garrett Temple led the way for the Nets with 22 points, adding three assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block. Joe Harris supplied 21 points, five boards, two assists and two blocks. Jarrett Allen generated a 17-point, 14-rebound double-double that also included three assists and one block. Spencer Dinwiddie registered 16 points, 11 assists and three rebounds. Taurean Prince poured in 12 points, while David Nwaba totaled 10 points to lead the bench.

The Nets will list Irving and DeAndre Jordan (ankle) as game-time decisions, although Irving seems more unlikely to play. LeVert and Wilson Chandler (suspension) remain out.

The Celtics lead the season series with the Nets by a 1-0 margin courtesy of their Wednesday night victory.

Hornets and Pistons Face Off in Motown Showdown
The Charlotte Hornets take on the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena on Friday night.

As their record implies the Hornets (7-12) have endured plenty of losing to open the season, although two of their seven victories have come at the expense of the Pistons. One of those wins came their last time on the court, when Charlotte snapped a five-game losing streak by nipping Detroit, 102-101, on Wednesday night. Bismack Biyombo led the Hornets with 19 points and added nine rebounds, one assist and two blocks. PJ Washington followed with 17 points, five rebounds and two blocks. Devonte' Graham furnished a 16-point, 15-assist double-double that also included seven rebounds. Miles Bridges delivered 15 points, six boards, three assists and one steal. Nicolas Batum and Terry Rozier posted 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The Hornets will list Malik Monk (finger) and Cody Zeller (hip) as probable for Friday's game.

The Pistons (6-12) have already faltered against the Hornets on two occasions this season, as alluded to earlier, but they'll stand a better chance of toppling them on their home floor. Detroit holds a 1-9 road record, making them an exponentially better 5-3 at home. Following a recent season-high five-game losing streak, the Pistons are 2-2 over their last four games, but they dropped the 102-101 decision to the Hornets in their most recent game Wednesday night. Blake Griffin led the way with 26 points, adding six boards and two assists. Luke Kennard totaled 16 points, three boards and one assist. Andre Drummond turned in a 14-point, 21-rebound double-double that included seven assists and one steal. Derrick Rose managed 13 points and eight assists. Langston Galloway poured in 10 points.

The Pistons will continue to be without Reggie Jackson (back) and Khyri Thomas (foot) for Friday's contest.

Friday's marks the third of four 2019-20 meetings for Charlotte and Detroit. The Hornets hold a 2-0 series lead, having notched a 109-106 win back on Nov. 15 in addition to their aforementioned victory Wednesday.

Raptors Face Off with Magic in Sunshine State Showdown
The Toronto Raptors take on the Orlando Magic at Amway Center on Friday night.

The Raptors (13-4) continue to thrive in their title-defense season despite the loss of Kawhi Leonard this offseason, as they'll come into Friday's contest with five consecutive victories. Toronto's most recent success came in the form of a 126-98 lambasting of the New York Knicks on Wednesday night. Pascal Siakam led the way with 31 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal. Fred VanVleet and Terence Davis followed with matching 15-point, four-rebound efforts. OG Anunoby and Chris Boucher produced 13 points and 12 rebounds apiece. Malcolm Miller matched their scoring total off the bench, while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson supplied 12 points and four rebounds.

The Raptors will continue to be without Kyle Lowry (thumb), Stanley Johnson (groin), Patrick McCaw (knee) and Dewan Hernandez (thumb) for Friday's game. Serge Ibaka (ankle) will be listed as doubtful.

The Magic (7-10) have been a somewhat streaky team in the early going, as they recently followed up three straight wins with three consecutive losses. They snapped the latter stretch their most recent time on the court, when they notched a 116-104 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night. Evan Fournier led the way with 30 points, adding four rebounds, one assist and two steals. Jonathan Isaac contributed 16 points, seven rebounds, one assist, three steals and one block. Terrance Ross matched Isaac's scoring tally and also pulled in four rebounds. Markelle Fultz and Mo Bamba had 15 points apiece while recording four assists and four rebounds, respectively.

The Magic will continue without Nikola Vucevic (ankle) and Michael Carter-Williams (hip) on Friday. Aaron Gordon (ankle) will be listed as doubtful.

Friday's game marks the third of four meetings between the teams this season. Toronto holds a 2-0 series lead, having notched 104-95 and 113-97 wins on Oct. 28 and Nov. 20, respectively.

Cavs Host Dominant Bucks
The Cleveland Cavaliers play host to the Milwaukee Bucks at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Friday evening.

This marks the fourth game of a six-game home stand for the Cavaliers (5-13), where they have gone 1-2 so far, with a win over the Trail Blazers, followed by back-to-back losses to the Nets and Magic. The Cavs are 3-6 at home this season. Collin Sexton leads the team in scoring, with an average of 17.9 points per game. Kevin Love is averaging 17.3 points and a team-high 11.3 rebounds per game. Jordan Clarkson gives the Cavs a spark off the bench, averaging 14.5 points and 2.4 assists, in 23 minutes per game. The Cavs average 104.4 points per game, which is third fewest in the NBA, while they give up an average of 111.7 points against. They are averaging 19.9 assists per game, which is the fewest in the league.

Meanwhile, the Bucks (15-3) are on a tear, as they have won nine in a row. They have won their last four road games and are 8-2 on the road. They average 119.4 points per game, which is second most in the league. They are also averaging a league-best 51.5 rebounds per game. Giannis Antetokounmpo is leading the team in almost every category, averaging team highs of 31.1 points, 13.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Brook Lopez is the team leader in blocks, with 2.5 per game. Khris Middleton returned to action in the Bucks' most recent contest, after missing seven games due to injury. Eric Bledsoe has been great this season, averaging 16.8 points, 5.5 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game, while Wesley Matthews is averaging 8.2 points on 45 percent shooting, in 25 minutes per game.

76ers and Knicks Tangle in Big Apple
The Philadelphia 76ers take on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.

The 76ers (12-6) come into Friday's game in the midst of one of their best stretches of the young season, as they've notched five wins in their last six games. Their most recent victory came at the expense of the Sacramento Kings, which they edged by a 97-91 score Wednesday night. Joel Embiid led the way for Philadelphia with a 33-point, 16-rebound double-double that also included one assist and two blocks. Matisse Thybulle posted 15 points, three rebounds, one assist, four steals and two blocks. Tobias Harris tallied 14 points, six boards, two assists and two blocks. Al Horford managed 12 points, seven boards, five assists, one steal and one block. Ben Simmons generated a 10-point, 14-rebound double-double that also included five assists and two steals.

The 76ers will list Josh Richardson (hamstring) as doubtful for Friday's game, while Al Horford (rest) and Kyle O'Quinn (calf) will be out.

The Knicks (4-14) are having about as ugly a campaign as their record implies, and they'll walk into Friday's matchup having dropped four consecutive contests. Their most recent debacle came at the hands of the Toronto Raptors, which throttled them by a 126-98 score Wednesday night. Julius Randle paced the Knicks with 19 points, adding eight rebounds and one assist. R.J. Barrett delivered 16 points, five boards, four assists and three steals. Allonzo Trier turned in 10 points, two rebounds and one assist.

The Knicks will continue to be without Elfrid Payton (hamstring) and Reggie Bullock (back) for Friday's contest.

Friday's game marks the second of four meetings between the teams this season. The 76ers hold a 1-0 series lead, having notched a 109-104 win on Nov. 20.

Pacers Look To Keep Cruising
The Indiana Pacers play host to the Atlanta Hawks at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Friday evening.

This marks the fourth and final game of a home stand for the Pacers (11-6), where they have gone 3-0, with wins over the Magic, Grizzlies and Jazz. The Pacers are 8-2 at home. They have won four games straight and will be looking to keep the streak going. Malcolm Brogdon leads the Pacers with team highs of 19.0 points and 8.1 assists per game. Domantas Sabonis has been excellent, averaging 18.9 points and a team-high 13.3 rebounds per game. T.J. Warren has also been solid, averaging 17.4 points on 50 percent shooting from the field. The Pacers do not rely heavily on the long ball, as they average 9.5 three-pointers per game, which is the second fewest in the league. On the other hand, they do a good job of taking care of the ball, as they give up an average of 13.3 turnovers per game, which is fourth fewest in the league.

Meanwhile, the Hawks (4-14) are struggling, as they have lost eight in a row. This marks their second game of a three-game road trip, which began with a loss in Milwaukee on Wednesday. They have lost their last five road games and are 2-7 on the road. They are giving up 17.3 turnovers per game, which is second most in the league, but they are averaging 8.7 steals per game, which is fifth most in the league. Despite the team's struggles, Trae Young continues to impress, averaging team-highs with 26.7 points and 8.6 assists per game. Jabari Parker is averaging 17.8 points and 6.6 rebounds. De'Andre Hunter has upped his game lately and is averaging 15.1 points, while shooting 44 percent from long range over his last 10 games.

Heat Host Warriors on Friday
The Golden State Warriors travel to South Beach to play the Miami Heat at American Airlines Arena on Friday.

The Warriors (4-15) have had a disastrous season up until this point and it's hard to imagine it getting much better. There were a lot of question marks when Kevin Durant went to Brooklyn and Klay Thompson tore his ACL in last year's playoffs but there was still hope. A lot of that hope ended when Stephen Curry broke his hand in the opening week, which was followed up by another injury to D'Angelo Russell. That left Draymond Green with a bunch of misfits and it's led to this horrific season. The one bit of good news is that they're seeing some great development from young guys like Alec Burks, Eric Paschall and Ky Bowman. Having those guys ready when Curry and Russell return is huge and no one would be surprised to see this team be elite again this time next season.

The Heat (12-5) has been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA this season and a perfect 7-0 home record is definitely a major reason why. What really makes this team scary is their depth. It's easy to look at Jimmy Butler as the major reason why but his addition is just a tiny piece of the puzzle. The biggest breakout has been Bam Adebayo, with the center stuffing the stat sheet at ease. He's paired beautifully with rookies like Kendrick Nunn and Duncan Robinson, which doesn't even take into consideration bench studs like Goran Dragic and Kelly Olynyk. We haven't even talked about Justise Winslow either, who just returned from a concussion issue as well. That's a great core for the future and it's simply too much for most Eastern Conference teams to compete with on a nightly basis.

Golden State has dominated this series over recent years, winning nine of their last 11 games against Miami.

Thunder Host Pelicans on Friday
The Oklahoma City Thunder play host to the New Orleans Pelicans at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Friday.

The Pelicans (6-12) come into this matchup losing three-straight games, making this season all the more disappointing. There were some seriously high hopes for this club coming into the year but injuries have derailed that quickly. Rookie Zion Williamson was the first domino to fall and then injuries to J.J. Redick, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Derrick Favors all followed. The good news is that Williamson and Favors are the only ones who remain out, as Ingram is actually in the midst of a breakout season. That's really all you could hope for with New Orleans sending away a superstar like Anthony Davis for him, making that trade look like quite the deal with so many good young pieces. That's why development is the most important thing this season and that's surely happening with so many young players getting big minutes.

The Thunder (6-11) have five of their six wins at home this season, giving them an unsightly 1-7 road record. While they do have a home game here, that road record is unacceptable for a team that wants to reach the postseason. They have plenty of talent to do just that, with veterans like Chris Paul, Danilo Gallinari and Steven Adams running the show. What's funny is that a young player appears to be in charge of all of them, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading the team in scoring, usage rate, shots taken and minutes played. That's why they gave away Paul George to acquire him and it's bizarre to see such a talented team post such a subpar record.

Oklahoma City won the first meeting between these teams this season, 115-104, on November 2. That gives the Thunder 10 wins in their last 15 games against the Pelicans.

Grizzlies Looking To Gain Traction
The Memphis Grizzlies play host to the Utah Jazz at FedEx Forum on Friday evening.

The Grizzlies (5-12) have lost five in a row. This marks their second game of a short, two-game home stand, while they are 3-8 at home. On the bright side, Ja Morant has looked fantastic so far in his young career, as he is averaging team highs with 19.1 points, 6.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Jaren Jackson Jr. continues to put in work, as he is averaging 15.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Jonas Valanciunas has been solid, averaging 13.1 points and a team-high 9.4 rebounds per game. Valanciunas had a huge night in the Grizzlies' most recent contest, where he finished with 30 points and 16 rebounds, in 34 minutes. The Grizzlies are averaging 19.5 free-throw attempts per game, which is fourth fewest in the league. They are averaging 27.1 assists per game, which is third most in the league.

Meanwhile, this marks the third game of a five-game road trip for the Jazz (11-7), where they are 0-2 so far, with losses in Milwaukee and Indiana. The Jazz are 3-6 on the road. They are averaging 37.6 field goals per game, which is the second fewest in the league, but they are doing a good Job with their efficiency, as they are shooting 38.1 percent from long range, which is fifth best in the league. Donovan Mitchell is the team's leading scorer, averaging 25.6 points per game. Rudy Gobert continues to get the job done inside, as he is averaging team highs with 14.0 points and 2.0 blocks per game. Bojan Bogdanovic has been a great addition for Utah, as he is averaging 21.5 points per game, while shooting 48 percent from the field, including 46.6 percent from long range.

Spurs Face Big Challenge As Clippers Come To Town
The San Antonio Spurs play host to the Los Angeles Clippers at AT&T Center on Friday evening.

This marks the third and final game of a home stand for the Spurs (6-13), where they are 0-2, with losses to the Lakers and Timberwolves. They have lost five in a row at home and are 4-6 at home this season. Despite the Spurs' struggles, DeMar DeRozan has been playing well, averaging 22.1 points on 53 percent shooting. He also leads the team with 4.4 assists per game. LaMarcus Aldridge has been solid as well, averaging 18.9 points on 52 percent shooting. The Spurs are averaging 111.7 points per game but are giving up an average of 115.2 points against, which is seventh most in the league. They are averaging a league-low 8.8 three-pointers per game, while also attempting a league-low 25.1 three per game. They are doing a good job protecting the ball, as they average 13.5 turnovers per game, which is sixth fewest in the league.

Meanwhile, the Clippers (14-5) are any opponent's nightmare, as they have won seven in a row and are only beginning to find their groove, as Paul George and Kawhi Leonard mesh with each other and the rest of the team. This marks the third and final game of a road trip for the Clippers, who are 3-4 on the road. They are averaging 114.6 points per game and giving up an average of 107.5 points against. The Clippers are averaging 20.7 free throws made per game, which is second most in the league. Aside from the obvious threats, George and Leonard, Lou Williams continues to be the Clippers' secret weapon, as he is averaging 22.5 points per game. Montrezl Harrell has also been fantastic, averaging 18.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

Suns Host Mavericks on Friday
The Dallas Mavericks travel to Arizona to play the Phoenix Suns at Talking Stick Resort Arena on Friday.

The Mavericks (11-6) had a lot of rebuilding to do when Dirk Nowitzki started aging and the draft of Luka Doncic last season surely sped up that process. The superstar point guard has come in and played at an MVP level at the ripe age of 20, averaging 30.1 points, 10 rebounds and 9.5 assists per game this season. Those are straight-up video game numbers and it's scary to think how good he could be when he reaches his prime. Those unbelievable statistics have led to Dallas posting the fifth-best record in the west this season which is better than anyone could have hoped. The next step is to get a third piece to match up with Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. If they can just get a second scorer or playmaker next to Doncic like Bradley Beal, this could be one of the most dangerous teams in the Western Conference.

The Suns (8-9) looked poised to have a surprise season when they started with a 7-4 record but have gone on to lose five of six since. That ugly run has gotten them back to where everyone expected and it's a sad development to see such a swift falloff. The injuries have really killed this team, as that stretch directly correlates with injuries to Aron Baynes and Ricky Rubio. The good news is that both of those guys are expected to return here, which would obviously be a welcomes site for this regressing defense like this. Losing DeAndre Ayton to suspension didn't help either, as he's going to be out for another month. While playoff hopes are fading away quickly, it would be fantastic for this franchise to establish themselves as a threat with all of these guys returning to their early-season form. They really can't do that unless Ayton is playing up to his potential and that makes for an interesting side story here with the Suns grabbing him before Doncic in last year's draft.

Despite the fact that Dallas has won their last two games against Phoenix, the Suns actually won their previous seven meetings prior to that.

Blazers Host Bulls on Friday
The Portland Trail Blazers play host to the Chicago Bulls at Moda Center on Friday.

The Bulls (6-13) are coming off a 14-point loss to the Golden State Warriors in their most recent game and that shows just how badly this team is struggling right now. While that would have been OK in past years, that happens to be a Warriors team falling on hard times. Losing by double-digits to essentially a G-League team is a good indicator of where this club is at right now and fans are very disappointed, to say the least. There is so much young talent on this team like Wendell Carter, Zach LaVine, Tomas Satoransky and Coby White but it appears to be getting wasted. Whether it's Jim Boylen or management that's ruining this team is up to interpretation but someone needs to take some blame before this starts getting any better.

The Trail Blazers (7-12) had some seriously high expectations coming into the year but it's been a huge disappointment so far. This is a club that finished third in the Western Conference in back-to-back years but it's going to be a battle for this club to even make the playoffs this year. It's hard to point a finger at the main issue but the lack of wing depth is certainly a major reason why. They got rid of Al-Farouq Aminu in the offseason to make way for Zach Collins but a shoulder injury to Collins derailed those plans quickly. That made this club extremely thin at their wing positions and it's the main reason why they made the desperate move of signing Carmelo Anthony. The former superstar did drop 25 points in his most recent game though and Blazers fans have to be hopeful that's a sign of things to come.

These teams played on November 25, with Portland prevailing, 117-94.

Lakers Host Wizards on Friday
The Los Angeles Lakers play host to the Washington Wizards at Staples Center on Friday.

The Wizards (6-10) own a 4-3 record over their last seven games but it's certainly not because of their defense. This club is allowing 120.8 points per game for the season which is easily the worst mark in the NBA. While they do have a Top-10 offense, it's impossible to overcome a defense that putrid. What makes it even harder is the fact that there's only one true offensive weapon on this team. Bradley Beal is that guy, leading the way with 28.9 points and 7.0 assists per game. Much of that has come recently, with Beal being one of the best players in NBA for the month of November. One has to wonder just how much longer he'll last in Washington though, as trade rumors surround him and John Wall with this team continuing to struggle. That's why this is one of the most interesting teams to watch over the next few months.

The Lakers (16-2) season simply couldn't be going any better. After having a nightmare campaign in 2018 where King James snapped his playoff streak, this team has come back hungry. Adding Anthony Davis was obviously the biggest acquisition, as that has single-handedly changed this franchise. It's not just him though, with players like Danny Green, Avery Bradley and Dwight Howard playing a factor too. While none of those guys statistics will jump off the page quite like Davis, this group has them playing some elite defense. That's evident when you see that the Lakers rank Top-3 in both points allowed and defensive efficiency which is something this team has been lacking for decades. If they can continue to play that stifling defense while getting James and Davis rolling on the offensive end, this club will remain one of the title favorites.

Washington has won 10 of their last 13 games against Los Angeles dating back six years.
