Braelon Allen

20-Year-Old Running BackRB
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Allen's prospect profile out of Wisconsin was less than spectacular, especially since he declined to run a 40-yard dash before the draft, but he was generally a productive player in college and could prove productive at the NFL level too. Allen uses his 235-pound frame to pose a convincing power threat, and with the Badgers he stomped his way to over 1,200 yards rushing as a 17-year-old true freshman. Allen's age could actually be a detriment in the short term – he won't turn 21 until January – but both Israel Abanikanda and Isaiah Davis are unproven in their own right. One of the three is expected to emerge as the backup to Breece Hall, but it's not clear which as of press time. Read Past Outlooks
Chance to back up Hall
RBNew York Jets
April 27, 2024
The Jets selected Allen in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 134th overall.
ANALYSIS
Allen followed in the footsteps of Jonathan Taylor as a prolific rusher at Wisconsin. He totaled 3,494 yards on the ground across 35 games with the Badgers, but he didn't show much ability as a pass catcher with just 49 catches over three seasons, which was part of the reason he lasted until Round 4. The Jets will hope that Allen doesn't see much work in his rookie campaign, but he should have the chance to compete with Israel Abanikanda to back up Breece Hall.

Allen is the sixth-ranked running back in the comprehensive 2024 NFL Draft Guide compiled by Dane Brugler of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Allen was extremely productive at Wisconsin, rushing for 3,494 yards and 35 touchdowns in three years while finding the end zone at least 11 times in each season. Brugler likens Allen to Tyler Allgeier and believes the 6-foot-1, 236-pound running back will likely be selected in the third or fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
