Fantasy Premier League Rankings: Gameweek 26

This article is part of our Fantasy Premier League Rankings series.

There seemed to be a pretty widespread belief heading into Gameweek 25 that it was time to cut bait with Chelsea Eden Hazard, who had scored no more than five fantasy points in his last six games. However, those who kept the faith (or were stupidly still holding on) were rewarded with a dominant performance at home against Huddersfield, as he had two goals on four shots, including a penalty, en route to 15 points in the Premier League's official game, the highest score among players who had only one match.

Hazard's performance was just another reminder that while we hard on week-to-week points and try to react as quickly as we can, cumulative points over the course of the season are still more important. Scoring six points in three straight games isn't as good as two games with one and one game with 17, even if you want to convince yourself that you'd make the right transfers to avoid those single-point outings while still benefitting from the 17-point performance. And while we're on the subject of Hazard and transfers, now might be the time to drop him, as Chelsea play away to Manchester City on Sunday before a blank in Gameweek 27 and then a home match against Spurs in Gameweek 28. Chelsea's schedule is much easier after that, but it's certainly worth trying to maximize those Hazard salary dollars over the next few weeks rather than play him through the tough stretch.
