Choked out by Zak Cummings Saturday
WelterweightOther
April 15, 2017
Coy lost to Zak Cummings via technical submission (guillotine) at 4:21 of Round 1 at UFC on FOX 24 on Saturday in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Coy looked halfway decent prior to the finish. If getting choked out isn't bad enough, he appeared to be out cold for a couple of seconds before referee Mike England finally realized it. Coy scored a takedown and landed 57 percent (23-of-41) of his total strikes prior to the finish. Unfortunately, he left his neck exposed during a scramble and Cummings took full advantage. Coy, who took current UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley to a split decision back in their Strikeforce days, falls to 1-2 in the UFC.

Coy defeated Jonavin Webb via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
At age-37, Coy now has his first UFC victory. Coy has been around an awful long time and he is a very smart fighter. Knowing full well that his best chance of winning this fight would be to rack up long stretches of top position top, Coy landed a couple of well-timed takedowns and grinded his way to victory. Coy is bright enough to change up the game plan knowing that he will be the less athletic fighter in virtually all of his bouts. It's a nice story to see him get his first win with the company.

Coy lost to Danny Roberts via submission (triangle choke) at 2:46 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Thursday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Coy waited seemingly forever to make his UFC debut and once it began, it didn't last long. He appeared to be in good position when he had Roberts planted on his back after a brief exchange, but he got sloppy and Roberts quickly applied the triangle choke. The oldest fighter on Thursday's card, the 37-year-old Coy isn't guaranteed to get another bout in the UFC.

Coy (+135) is the underdog for his welterweight fight against Danny Roberts that will take place Thursday at UFC Fight Night 80 in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Coy will also be making his UFC debut after going 2-1 in his last three Bellator fights. He's nearly a decade older than Roberts, and his reach is five inches less. Despite those perceived disadvantages, the oddsmakers are expecting a close fight.
