Potentially-lengthy medical suspension

February 10, 2022
Davis has been suspended six months by the Nevada Athletic Commission pending review of a possible left elbow injury, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis had lost four of her last five fights heading into UFC Vegas 47, but she picked up a decision victory, albeit a potentially-costly one. The 37-year-old will now need to get a clean X-ray or proper physician's clearance if she wishes to return prior to August 5.

Earns much needed victory

Davis defeated Julija Stoliarenko via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a slog for a good portion of the bout, but Davis emerged with the victory which may have very well extended her time with the company. Davis did virtually all of her offensive damage by controlling Stoliarenko on the mat. She had a very difficult time in Round 2 when the two women remained upright for the entirety of the frame, but Alexis proved to be the better conditioned athlete and that allowed her to gain top position early in Round 3 and fire off plenty of ground-and-pound to secure the victory. It's far more likely than not that this strong effort was an aberration as opposed to a sign of things to come. Yes, Davis fought for UFC gold back in July 2014 (she lost to Ronda Rousey in 14 seconds), but she's now 37 years old and entered this one having lost four of her previous five fights. The company needs to be exceedingly careful regarding who they match her up against moving forward.

Davis will take on Julija Stoliarenko in a bantamweight bout at the UFC event Feb. 5, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis is looking to get back on track having lost to Pannie Kianzad by unanimous decision back in June. That dropped her to 1-4 in her past five fights. This could be a must win if Davis wants to stick around in the UFC.
Falls to 1-4 in past five fights

Davis lost to Pannie Kianzad via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC 263 on Saturday in Glendale, Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Davis picked up her first win in more than three years in her most recent bout against Sabina Mazo this past February, but went right back to her losing ways on Saturday. Davis tried to remain busy on the feet and overwhelm Kianzad with volume, but her complete inability to get out of the way of return fire was her ultimate downfall. Davis has been a professional for more than 14 years and somehow has a knockout win over Amanda Nunes (September 2011) on her resume, but the Canadian is now 36 years old and is 1-4 in her past five fights dating back to July 2018. She is nothing more than roster depth at this point.

Davis defeated Sabina Mazo via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was a victory that almost certainly saved Davis' job. Entering on a three-fight losing streak, without a win since December 2017 and on the sidelines for the past 19 months, Davis leaned on her wrestling and fight IQ to emerge victorious. The Canadian landed one successful takedown in each round and was credited with 8:50 worth of control time over the course of the 15-minute bout. It wasn't particularly entertaining to watch, but that's a secondary concern for Davis at this point. Davis, now 36 years of age and best known for being knocked out in 16 seconds by Ronda Rousey in a championship fight back in 2014, will be back following this result.
