Not competitive in UFC 283 defeat
HeavyweightUFC
January 21, 2023
Abudurakhimov lost to Jailton Almeida via TKO (punches) at 2:56 of Round 2 at UFC 283 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ANALYSIS
It's literally impossible to last as long as Abdurakhimov did and be less effective. He was credited with exactly three strikes landed, while giving up 7:28 worth of control time to Almeida. Shamil was dominated on the mat for the duration of the fight and was at risk of being stopped the entire way. Abdurakhimov is now 41 years of age and entered this fight as a +675 underdog, by far the largest on the entire card. He has now lost four fights in a row and is without a victory dating back to April 2019. This certainly had the feel of Abdurakhimov accepting whatever fight was put in front of him before inevitably being handed his walking papers.
