Off July 11 card
June 15, 2020
Abdurakhimov is no longer in line to face Cyril Gane on July 11, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
This was a bout announced before the official release of the UFC's Fight Island location, but it's unclear if that had anything to do with the bout cancellation. In Abdurakhimov's place, Sergei Pavlovic is expected to step in and face Gane.

Slated for July 11 bout
May 25, 2020
Abdurakhimov is scheduled to fight Ciryl Gane in a heavyweight match at UFC's July 11 event, reports.
Abdurakhimov was initially set to fight Gane at UFC 249, but his opponent was forced to withdraw due to pneumothorax. The heavyweight was riding a three-fight winning streak before losing to Curtis Blayes in September, so he'll look to get back on track with a victory in July.

Abdurakhimov was initially set to fight Ciryl Gane in Brooklyn, but Gane has been required to withdraw from the match due to issues relating to pneumothorax. In order to bounce back from his September loss to Curtis Blayes, which ended a three-fight winning streak, Abdurakhimov will first need to receive a new opponent for UFC 249.
Facing Ciryl Gane in Brooklyn
January 24, 2020
Abdurakhimov (nose) will take on Ciryl Gane in a heavyweight matchup at UFC 249 in Brooklyn on April 18, reports.
Abdurakhimov will be losing to bounce back from his TKO loss to Curtis Blaydes in September, a defeat which led to a six-month medical suspension due to a broken nose. He'd won his previous three fights before that loss. Gane has yet to be defeated in his six professional fights, three of which have come with the UFC.
Long medical suspension
September 11, 2019
Abdurakhimov has been suspended 180 days pending a physician's clearance due to a nasal fracture, Dave Doyle of report.
Abdurakhimov was thoroughly beaten by one of the UFC's top contenders at UFC 242, and to make matters worse, he potentially broke his nose along the way. The loss snapped a three-fight winning streak and will force him to take a bit of time off, though a physician could always clear the heavyweight fighter earlier than March. In the absence of a traditional athletic commission, this regulation and suspension was handed down by the UFC itself.
No match for Blaydes
September 7, 2019
Abdurakhimov lost to Curtis Blaydes via TKO (elbow and punch) at 2:22 of Round 2 at The Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
Abdurakhimov may have hit Blaydes with one clean counter punch, but it was far from enough to gain purchase in this one. Blaydes is simply too strong of a wrestler for the smaller Abdurakhimov to deal with, which resulted in one-way traffic until the bout was mercifully stopped. The 38-year-old had seen a bit of a resurgence late in his career with a three-fight winning streak, but that was stopped dead in its tracks Saturday, which raises raises the question of what's next for the powerful, yet slow-footed fighter. He falls to 20-5 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.
