Struggles continue in Rochester
Light HeavyweightOther
May 18, 2019
Cummins lost to Ed Herman via TKO (strikes) at 3:39 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Rochester, New York.
ANALYSIS
Cummins has to be one of the most disappointing fighters in UFC history. Blessed with a boatload of natural athletic ability and a world-class wrestling game, "Durkin" has never been able to figure out how to properly defend himself on the feet, and Saturday was no different. Poor positioning led to Cummins eating a massive knee from Herman, and he was unable to recover. A loser of three straight fights and set to turn 39 years old in November, Cummins' time is up.
Next fight in Rochester
Light HeavyweightOther
May 1, 2019
Cummins will take on Ed Herman in a light heavyweight matchup at UFC Rochester on May 18, the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Cummins is one of the more experienced light heavyweights on the roster, but his career has been largely inconsistent. He's currently riding a two-fight losing streak, which he'll look to snap against Herman in his third fight at light heavyweight. The two measure up almost identically, but Cummins has the edge in striking volume, striking defense and takedown average.
Fails to get going at UFC Moncton
Light HeavyweightOther
October 27, 2018
Cummins lost to Misha Cirkunov via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 2:20 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Moncton, New Brunswick.
ANALYSIS
Cummins did not really get a chance to get going in this fight. He ate a hard punch right off the bat from Cirkunov. It hurt him, so he went to his wrestling. However, he had very little success in the wrestling exchange. He got to the clinch, but he could not drag his opponent to the ground. Instead, Cirkunov scored a takedown of his own right into mount. From there, he quickly locked in the submission and finished the fight. Cummins has not dropped back-to-back fights in the UFC.
Will fight Misha Cirkunov at UFC Fight Night in Moncton
Light HeavyweightOther
August 7, 2018
Cummins will fight Misha Cirkunov in a light heavyweight matchup during UFC Fight Night in Moncton on Oct. 27 at the Moncton Events Centre, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
Cummins was on a two-fight winning streak before losing at the hands of Corey Anderson in April, and because the division is quite shallow, Anderson has actually been in the conversation about who gets the next title shot. Though the loss sets Cummins back, a win over the No. 10-ranked Cirkunov could conceivably get him back in the top-10. In terms of measurables, Cummins is an older fighter with slight height and reach disadvantages. Wrestling will be his best path to victory against Cirkunov, who sports a well-below-average takedown defense of 50 percent. Cirkunov has yet to fight in 2018 and is on a two-fight losing streak, being defeated by Volkan Oezdemir and Glover Teixeira.
Given medical suspension after convincing loss

April 24, 2018
Cummins was suspended indefinitely pending a CT scan of his head and abdomen, in addition to a right eye laceration that all resulted from his loss to Corey Anderson at UFC Atlantic City, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cummins was taken down an astonishing 12 times by Anderson in the loss, but also absorbed 64 significant strikes -- 56 of which were to the head, according to Fightmetric. He'll now have to sit a mandatory 60 days on the shelf, in addition to being able to present medical clearance.
