Possible hand injury

September 17, 2019
Teixeira has been suspended indefinitely by the British Columbia Athletic Commission pending a physician's clearance for possible right hand injury, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Teixeira put on one of his more impressive performances to date when he defeated Nikita Krylov on Saturday, but did not emerge from the matchup completely unscathed. He'll need to get medical clearance for a potential hand injury if he wishes to compete again before next March.
Extends winning streak to three

Teixeira defeated Nikita Krylov via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC on ESPN+ 16 on Saturday in Vancouver.
ANALYSIS
Teixeira technically lost the significant striking totals in the first two rounds, but what one won't see on paper is that the shots he landed did significantly more damage. The grappling statistics lean in favor of Krylov as well, but it was Teixeira that was going for submissions in the exchanges. Entering the third round facing what was likely a tie on some scorecards, Teixeira prospered by winning the striking battle and threatening with several guillotine attempts. While he couldn't get Krylov to tap, the veteran did just enough to earn the favor of the judges. It's the third win in a row for Teixeira, and while he didn't name an opponent for his next trip to the cage, he did express interest in fighting on the Sao Paulo card.

Teixeira will take on Nikita Krylov in a light heavyweight matchup at UFC Vancouver on September 14.
ANALYSIS
Teixeira is fresh off a come-from-behind victory over Ion Cutelaba in which he was outlanded 30-to-74, but came back to win via submission in the second round. He'll take on a fighter in Krylov who recently snapped a two-fight losing streak with a submission victory of his own against Ovince Saint Preux. It's a smaller sample size, but Krylov has a sizable edge in volume striking, while Teixeira is statistically a far superior offensive wrestler. Teixeira will be at a small disadvantage in both height and reach.
Shows he's still got it in Florida

Texeira defeated Ion Cutelaba via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:37 of Round 2 at UFC Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Teixeira ate a vicious spinning back first in the first round that clearly dazed him, but he was able to recover by going to the guard, where Cutelaba began to empty the tank in search of a finish. After Cutelaba appeared to lose a step in the second round, Teixeira hurt him early and began taking control of the fight from there. He proceeded to land heavy shots from the center of the cage, and with two minutes left in the second round, got to the ground and quickly passed guard. In an effort to avoid heavy ground-and-pound, Cutelaba gave Teixeira his back, which proved to be a fatal mistake. The BJJ ace locked in the rear-naked choke and ended the fight, picking up his third victory in his last four trips to the Octagon. It was his eighth professional submission, and earned him his sixth post-fight bonus.
