Saunders has been released from the UFC, Nolan King of MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Saunders is a veteran of 37 professional fights and had served three separate stints in the UFC. His last seven fights resulted in finishes within two rounds, but given that he lost six of those matchups, the promotion could no longer afford to keep employing the 36-year-old. It's unclear at this time if Saunders will hang up the gloves or pursue a fight under the banner of another promotion.

Falls to 1-6 in last seven fights

December 14, 2019
Saunders lost to Matt Brown via KO (punches) at 4:55 of Round 2 at UFC 245 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
That was difficult to watch. Facing an opponent who hadn't fought in more than two years, Saunders was run out of the building. He may have very well lost Round 1 despite spending the majority of frame in top position. When the two men separated in Round 2, Saunders was done. Simply put, "Killa B" can't defend himself on the feet anymore and there's zero reason to believe it will improve moving forward. The UFC is going to have a very difficult time running the 36-year-old Saunders out there again. He has lost four fights in a row and six of his past seven. Saunders has exactly one win dating back to January 2017 and that came against Jake Ellenberger.

Saunders will take on Matt Brown in a welterweight matchup at UFC 245 on Dec. 14 in Las Vegas, Nolan King of MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In this battle of past-their-prime fighters, Saunders will enter on a three-fight losing streak, sporting a 1-5 record overall in his last six. Brown, on the other hand, picked up a win against Diego Sanchez in his last trip to the Octagon, which was all the way back in November of 2017. He had been on a three-fight losing streak prior to that. Brown is a higher-volume striker, who also has a significantly greater wrestling game to speak of. Saunders has just a 63 percent takedown defense, but will enter with two-inch advantages in both height and reach.
Falls in second round

Saunders lost to Takashi Sato via TKO (strikes) at 1:18 of Round 2 at UFC Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Saunders looked to have everything in place after a productive first round where he dominated in the striking department, but it all fell apart early in the second. He was dropped with a straight left, and while he tried his best to keep Sato in his guard, the younger fighter started to rain down elbows that Saunders couldn't overcome. Saunders showed that he could still be a competitive fighter early, but this will go down as the 36-year-old's fifth loss in his last six fights.
Handed 90-day medical suspension

November 6, 2018
Saunders was handed a 90-day medical suspension following his loss to Lyman Good on Saturday, mmafighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Saunders fell early in the match, getting knocked out by a punch to the chin just 1:32 into the first round. He'll now be unable to fight until early February.
Falls to 1-4 in last four fights after KO loss Saturday
WelterweightOther
November 3, 2018
Saunders lost to Lyman Good via KO (punches) at 1:32 of Round 1 at UFC 230 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
In for an injured Sultan Aliev on short notice, Saunders probably wishes he never accepted this one. "Killa B" was using his long frame to land powerful knees in the clinch along the fence, but he left his chin exposed and Good connected with a short right hand that turned out his lights. While he has had an underrated career, the 35-year-old Floridian is now 1-4 in his last five fights dating back to May of last year and he's been stopped in all of those bouts. There isn't much reason for the UFC to keep running him out there.
