Tending to knee injury
January 21, 2020
Ferreira has been suspended 180 days by the Nevada Athletic Commission pending a MRI on his right knee, Steven Marrocco of MMAFighting.com reports.
It's always possible the injury is minor, but the commission will take no chances and force Ferreira to get the knee checked out following his decisive victory at UFC 246 on Saturday. The grappling he put on display appears to have taken its toll, with the injury potentially being sustained at some point between the three takedowns and four passes Ferreira was credited with in the bout. He'll need clearance from a medical professional if he intends to put his winning streak on the line before the summer.

Rolls over Anthony Pettis
January 18, 2020
Ferreira defeated Anthony Pettis via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:46 of Round 2 at UFC 246 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
A winner of six fights in a row and without a loss dating back to April 2015, Ferreira is a legitimate problem for any opponent at 155 pounds. Going up against a fighter in Pettis who is a big name but short on recent production, Ferreira dominated from the start. He easily controlled all the ground exchanges between the two men before clamping on the rear-naked choke that ended the fight early in Round 2. A win over Pettis means seemingly less by the day in the early stages of 2020, but Ferreira is legit. He's going to get a big time fight his next time out and he deserves it.
Slated to fight Anthony Pettis
November 25, 2019
Ferreira is slated to fight Anthony Pettis (foot) on January 18, Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie reports.
Ferreira will take on Pettis in his return to the lightweight division, after the former lightweight champ spent the last two fights as a welterweight. Ferreira boasts a 7-2 UFC record and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Mairbek Taisumov at UFC 242 in September. A location and event title have yet to be released for the fight.
Overwhelms with offense
September 7, 2019
Ferreira defeated Mairbek Taisumov via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 29-28) at The Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
It was touch-and-go for a while in the first round when Taisumov was at his explosive best, but Ferreira stayed the course and was able to break his opponent down with pace and pressure in order to dominate with boxing in Rounds 2 and 3. Ferreira isn't talked about much in the stacked lightweight division but has now won five fights in a row, which could put him in line for a big next fight. He improves to 16-2 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.
Upcoming bout with Taisumov
June 7, 2019
Ferreira (illness) will face Mairbek Taisumov at UFC 242 on Sept. 7.
Ferreira was supposed to fight Francisco Trinaldo at UFC 237 but fell ill before the fight and it ultimately was canceled. The Brazilian will be looking to notch his fifth-straight win against Taisumov, who will be reaching for his seventh-straight win.
Removed from UFC 237 card
May 10, 2019
Ferreira'a fight versus Francisco Trinaldo has been scratched from the UFC 237 card due to some health issues for Ferreira, Marc Raimondi of ESPN reports.
Scheduled for the pay-per-view portion of the card, Ferreira was the betting favorite for the match and held both youth and a four-inch reach advantage in his favor. Unfortunately, early indications suggest he may be dealing with some kidney stones, so Ferreira will need to wait for an opportunity to extend a four-fight winning streak.
