Zubaira Tukhugov

Can't control fight after knockdown
September 7, 2019
Tukhugov fought Lerone Murphy to a draw (28-29, 29-28, 28-28) at The Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
Tukhugov landed a huge shot early in the fight to floor his opponent, but Murphy never lost his bearings and was able to ride out the rest of the round on his back. From there it was a tale of two fights, as Murphy controlled the striking while Tukhugov was able to consistently land takedowns. While some may argue that he should have won the fight, Tukhugov does too much standing on the outside looking to land the big shot and isn't a submission grappler, which really limits his offensive potential in any given fight. He moves to 18-4-1 in professional MMA as a result of the draw.

Returning at UFC 242
August 20, 2019
Tukhugov (suspension) will retake the Octagon at UFC 242 on Sept. 7 in a featherweight matchup against Lerone Murphy, Nolan King of MMAJunkie.com reports.
Tukhugov received a one-year suspension that was later reduced by 35 days for his role in a post-fight brawl at UFC 229. He has finally come to the end of his term and will get back in the cage against a newcomer in Murphy. After three straight wins to open his UFC career, Tukhugov fell via split decision at UFC 198 back in May of 2016. Both he and Murphy have won the majority of their results via KO/TKO, so expect plenty of haymakers to be thrown.
Gets reduced suspension
May 22, 2019
Tukhugov had his one-year suspension reduced by 35 days, Marc Raimondi of ESPN reports.
Tukhugov and teammate Abubakar Nurmagomedov were both initially suspended for a year and both got the same reduction. The decision helps pieces fall in place for Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is teammates with both, to defend his lightweight title against interim champion Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 on September 7. Khabib stated that he would not take part in a fight until his teammates were no longer suspended, and the reduced sentence means Tukhugov will be cleared by the start of September.
Fined and suspended
January 29, 2019
Tukhugov was fined $25,000 and suspended one year Tuesday for his role in the post-fight brawl at UFC 229, Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports reports.
Tukhugov will be eligible to return to action Oct. 6, as the penalty is backdated to the date of the incident. Teammate Abubakar Nurmagomedov faces an identical punishment, while Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov were handed larger fines but suspended just six months.
Temporary suspension extended
November 14, 2018
Tukhugov's temporary suspension for his role in the post-UFC 229 melee was extended by the Nevada Athletic Commission on Wednesday, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
The NAC will hold a disciplinary hearing in December or January to decide on Tukhugov's potential punishment. "The Warrior" was previously removed from his scheduled bout against Artem Lobov at UFC Moncton and could be in serious jeopardy of losing his spot in the promotion.
UFC Moncton fight called off
October 11, 2018
Tukhugov was scheduled to face McGregor's teammate Artem Lobov at the end of the month in a UFC bout, but both sides confirmed to ESPN's Ariel Helwani that the fight is off.
There was speculation that the fight could be in jeopardy after Tukhugov admitted he entered the octagon in a brawl following UFC 229, and this confirms it. It's unclear when he'll get back to fighting, though there is speculation he could be handed his walking papers. Things should clear up as the UFC investigates the situation further.
