Second straight knockout loss
LightweightUFC
September 17, 2022
VanCamp lost to Nikolas Motta via TKO (punches) at 3:49 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Known more for his ground game than his striking skills, VanCamp has been overwhelmed on the feet in his brief UFC run. He was knocked out by Andre Fialho in his company debut this past May and ultimately succumbed to the same fate against Motta in this one. VanCamp ate a right hand, followed by a left hook which sent him sprawling to the mat and eventually forced Chris Tognoni to step in and call off the bout. With back-to-back first-round knockout defeats on his resume, it's far from a guarantee the 29-year-old Indiana native gets a third shot with the company.
Fighting Motta on Sept. 10
LightweightUFC
May 19, 2022
VanCamp will battle Nikolas Motta at the UFC event on Sept. 10, Iridium Sports Agency reports.
ANALYSIS
VanCamp will be searching for this first UFC victory in this one, as the lightweight lost in his UFC debut to Andre Fialho via KO (punches) back May 7. After the match, he was dealt a 60-day medical suspension due to an undisclosed issue. Motta will also be looking for this first UFC win, as Motta previously lost to Jim Miller on Feb. 19 in his UFC debut.
Dealt medical suspension
LightweightUFC
May 12, 2022
VanCamp has been suspended 60 days by the Arizona Boxing and MMA commission, Steven Marrocco of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
No official injury details were reported, but it looks like this was just a case of any fighter getting knocked out serving the maximum-issued 60-day suspension, as Tony Ferguson was the only other fighter to receive a period this long. Vancamp will now be sidelined until at least July 7, and unlikely your typical 180-day suspension, as is handed down by the Las Vegas commission, it doesn't seem he'll have the opportunity to be medically cleared earlier.
Blitzed in UFC debut
LightweightUFC
May 7, 2022
VanCamp lost to Andre Fialho via KO (punches) at 2:35 of Round 1 at UFC 274 on Saturday in Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
VanCamp was originally scheduled to make his UFC debut this past September before his fight with Nikolas Motta was cancelled. He finally got a shot here and lasted less than three minutes. One sweeping left hook from Fialho connected flush, and referee Marc Goddard was stepping in moments later. The 29-year-old VanCamp fought for countless regional promotions before his arrival here. He is known as more of a mat specialist, although he never got to show those skills against Fialho. VanCamp -- at age 29 -- will find himself firmly in must-win territory his next time out.
Debuting against Andre Fialho
LightweightUFC
April 30, 2022
VanCamp will face Andre Fialho at UFC 274 on May 7, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
The fight will represent VanCamp's UFC debut. He owns a 15-5 record as a professional, winning his last four fights with four different promotions. Fialho doesn't have much more UFC experience than he does, as he's gone 1-1 with the promotion since debuting in January.
