Runs winning streak to four
Brito defeated Jonathan Pearce via submission (Ninja Choke) at 3:54 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Brito had nothing going prior to the finish. He was fine in the early moments of the fight but appeared to be clearly tiring throughout the course of Round 2. He somehow managed to work his way back to his feet late in the frame, at which point Pearce ducked under and left his neck exposed. Brito grabbed it and twisted to the mat, with Pearce tapping out almost immediately. It was beautifully done from the Brazilian. The 28-year-old Brito has won four straight on the heels of a unanimous decision defeat to Bill Algeo in his UFC debut back in January 2022. He'll also take home a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts here.

Draws Pearce in November
Brito will take on Jonathan Pearce in a featherweight matchup at UFC Vegas 82 on November 18, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Brito has been all business since losing his UFC debut in January of 2022, as he's since picked up three consecutive first-round finishes. It was clearly time for a step up in competition, and the UFC gave him just that, as Pearce is currently riding a five fight winning streak (although he has yet to fight in 2023). Brito is four inches shorter, but has a one-inch reach advantage. He'll look to employ his wrestling skill to exploit the 59 percent takedown defense of Pearce, though Pearce is no slouch on the mat by any means, as he averages 5.74 takedowns of his own per 15 minutes. Fight fans should be in for a close bout at the UFC Apex.

Rolls through late-notice opponent
Brito defeated Westin Wilson via KO (punches) at 2:54 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was the exact performance you might expect from a -1400 favorite against a late-notice opponent. Brito battered Wilson on the feet in the early going before the latter attempt a miracle kneebar. Brito easily dislodged himself and jumped on top of his opponent, raining down unanswered blows until referee Chris Tognoni had seen enough. A product of Dana White's Contender Series, Brito dropped a unanimous decision to Bill Algeo in his UFC debut back in January 2022, but he's won three in a row since. He's going to get a bump up in competition next time out, and he deserves it.

New opponent at UFC Vegas 76
Brito is in line to take on Westin Wilson in a featherweight matchup at UFC Vegas 76 on July 1, MMA Orbit reports.
ANALYSIS
Brito's originally-scheduled matchup against Khusein Askhabov fell through for the second time just a week ago, so in steps Wilson on just 11 days' notice. Wilson isn't your typical prospect getting an opportunity, as he's 34 years old with a 16-7 professional record. He's fought under both the Bellator and LFA banners in the past, but has more recently bounced between lesser regional circuits. Wilson will have slight height and reach advantages, but considering Brito is on a two-fight winning streak against UFC-caliber competition, he stands to enter as the favorite in this one.

Seeking new opponent
Brito will no longer face off against Khusein Askhabov at UFC Vegas 76, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Brito will search for a new opponent to take on at UFC Vegas 76 after Khusein Askhabov withdrew from the bout due to injury. The 28-year-old fighter is currently riding a two-fight winning streak, and he will present a formidable challenge for prospective opponents.
