Hubbard lost to Kurt Holobaugh via submission (triangle choke) at 2:39 of Round 2 at UFC 292 on Saturday in Boston.

After coming up short, Hubbard will watch his Team Chandler teammate ultimately go on to win the UFC contracted awarded at the conclusion of season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. Hubbard actually started this one relatively well, landing 31 significant strikes and two takedowns in the opening frame. Things were a bit more lopsided in Round 2, however, as Holobaugh let his hands go more and Hubbard ate a right hand that left him compromised. Instinct carried things to the mat and even saw Hubbard in top position, but Holobaugh threw up a triangle from his back that closed the show. Hubbard is clearly UFC-caliber with multiple wins with the company during his last stint, but it may be back to the regional circuit for the time being.
