ANALYSIS
Adams is coming off a TKO loss to Justin Tafa this past weekend, which would be his third loss in a row. Adams will exit the UFC with a 1-3 record.
Suffers third loss in eight months
HeavyweightPFL
February 8, 2020
Adams lost to Justin Tafa via TKO (punches) at 1:59 of Round 1 at UFC 247 on Saturday in Houston.
ANALYSIS
Adams has now been knocked out in each of his past two fights and he failed to last two minutes in either one of them. His prior bout was a 45-second loss to Greg Hardy in July. Adams is a massive (6-foot-5) guy with little going for him other than his size. He's a one-dimensional power puncher who is poor defensively. Adams would probably improve a bit over time given the fact he trains with the team at Jackson-Wink in Albuquerque, but there is no guarantee the UFC will be giving him another opportunity. Adams has lost three fights in a span of eight months.
Set for February fight
HeavyweightPFL
November 20, 2019
Adams is set to square off with Justin Tafa at a UFC event in Houston on Feb. 8, Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie reports.
ANALYSIS
Adams earned his UFC contract on Dana White's Contender Series and started off with a victory before losing his last two bouts, the most recent one coming against Greg Hardy in July. Justin Tafa, his opponent, made his UFC debut in October and suffered a first-round knockout against Yorgan De Castro at UFC 243. Both of these fighters are hungry to get their MMA careers back on track which should make for a very entertaining heavyweight match.
Quickly finished by Greg Hardy
HeavyweightPFL
July 20, 2019
Adams lost to Greg Hardy via TKO (punches) at 0:45 of Round 1 at UFC San Antonio on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Adams and Hardy exchanged jabs early, but Adams made an ill-advised decision to test the wrestling of a relatively inexperienced Hardy. He went for a single leg takedown and Hardy sprawled, which put him in perfect position to rain ground and pound from top position. Adams essentially froze from there. He wasn't able to advance and stayed on his stomach, which forced the referee to jump in and stop the fight due to a lack of action. Adams talked quite a bit coming into this fight, but was unable to live up to it. He's now lost consecutive fights and could be fighting for his job his next time out.
Gets his wish, will fight Greg Hardy
HeavyweightPFL
May 22, 2019
Adams is slated to take on Greg Hardy in a heavyweight matchup at UFC San Antonio on July 20, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Adams may be coming off a loss to Arjan Bhullar in May, but he'll still represent the toughest test of Hardy's young MMA career. "The Kraken" stands at 6-foot-5 with an 80-inch reach, so he'll be one of the few opponents with physical advantages equal to those that Hardy brings to the Octagon. The two fighters have nine combined victories and all of them have been earned by way of KO/TKO, so this will be a lucrative matchup worth getting a piece of from a fantasy perspective.
