Montano was released from the UFC promotion Tuesday, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Montano hasn't fought since July of 2019 due to various postponements and injuries. Most recently, she failed to make weight ahead of her fight versus Wu Yanan last week, and that appears to be the final straw for Montano's time in UFC.

Fight versus Yanan scrapped
BantamweightOther
July 30, 2021
Montano's fight scheduled for Saturday versus Yanan has been called off after Montano missed weight by seven pounds, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Fighters can oftentimes reach an agreement on a forfeiture of a portion of a purse, but Montano's miss was bad enough that the fight will be called off altogether. Considering Montano has fought just twice in the promotion and her last bout came in 2019, coupled with her inability to make weight in multiple weight classes, and it wouldn't be overly surprising to see the UFC cut ties with the one-time flyweight champion.

Montano weighed in at 143 pounds at Friday's weigh-ins, as she exceeded the mark by seven pounds.
ANALYSIS
Montano went way over her weight limit ahead of her fight against Wu Yanan. The 32-year-old will likely have to forfeit some percentage of her purse to Yanan. The UFC has yet to release an official announcement on the plans for the fight.

Montano (concussion) will face Wu Yanan in a flyweight bout at UFC's July 31 event, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.

Montano will return to the Octagon for the first time since July 2019, as she suffered a concussion from a car accident in January and had multiple other bouts canceled over the past two years. Wu is coming off a loss to Joselyne Edwards via unanimous decision in January.
Still recovering from concussion

April 5, 2021
Montano said Sunday that she's still dealing with concussion symptoms since being involved in a car accident in January, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports. "It's been two months [since the accident] and I'm still having symptoms and still concussed," Montano said. "But for the most part my recovery process is coming along very well. Slowly but surely for protocol it's about three months before I'm able to do anything."
ANALYSIS
Montano was forced to withdraw from her Feb. 6 fight with Karoline Rosa as a result of the head injury. Based on where she currently stands in her recovery from the concussion, Montano doesn't sound like she'll be ready to return to the Octagon until June at the earliest.
