Gives up early lead, taps to Calderwood
FlyweightOther
August 25, 2018
Faria lost to Joanne Calderwood via submission (armbar) at 4:57 of Round 1 at UFC Lincoln on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Faria got things started with an early takedown that seemed to catch Calderwood by surprise. She was unable to mount much offense while attempting to pass guard, but held the position for much of the remainder of the round nonetheless, mixing in the occasional elbow. In the final minute, it all started going downhill for Faria. Calderwood was able to trap a head-and-arm triangle from her back, and while it initially looked like Faria would survive, Calderwood switched to an armbar and forced the tap with just three seconds on the clock. It's a tough loss for Faria, who was winning the round before the late submission attempt. Faria clearly has some skill, but is now winless in three attempts under the UFC banner.
Drops decision against Jessica Eye
FlyweightOther
January 14, 2018
Faria lost to Jessica Eye via unanimous decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in St. Louis.
ANALYSIS
Faria had an advantage in the striking department in this fight. However, she could not handle the wrestling of Eye. In the second and third rounds, she allowed Eye to sway the judges with takedowns and back control. Faria landed power strikes in the first and third rounds, but it was not enough to take the decision. After two UFC fights, the former Titan FC champion is still looking for her first Octagon win.
Not competitive in UFC debut Saturday
FlyweightOther
October 7, 2017
Faria lost to Mara Romero Borella via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:54 of Round 1 at UFC 216 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Sure, Faria was forced to prepare for a new opponent on just a few days' notice after her original opponent Andrea Lee was forced to withdraw, but it was an inexcusable effort from the Brazilian in her UFC debut. It was so bad that she wasn't given credit for landing even one single strike. Heck, she only attempted four. There isn't a whole lot to analyze here. It was a terrible performance and it was even worse when you take into account that Faria entered as a significant (-255) betting favorite.
Gains opponent for UFC debut
FlyweightOther
October 3, 2017
Faria will face Mara Romero Borella in a flyweight fight at UFC 216 on October 7 in Las Vegas, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Faria was set to make her debut against Andrea Lee until a regulation by the USADA under the UFC required Lee to complete an additional six months in their testing pool prior to fighting under the promotion. Mara Romero Borella has been called in as a replacement for the event and will be making her UFC debut alongside Faria on the main card this weekend.
Needs new opponent for UFC 216
FlyweightOther
October 1, 2017
Faria is without an opponent for UFC 216 after Andrea Lee was pulled from the fight, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Faria was set to face Andrea "KGB" Lee for her UFC debut, but has since lost her opponent for the matchup. Lee is unable to compete due to a USADA regulation stating she must be part of their testing pool from a minimum of six months due to a past violation. A replacement for the fight has not been announced at this time, but the promotion hopes to keep Faria's debut on the card and find her a new opponent.
