Weighing options for next season
According to general manager Steve Yzerman, Timashov, a restricted free agent, is weighing his option for next season, but there's still a chance he'll re-sign with the Red Wings, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Timashov started the 2019-20 campaign with the Maple Leafs, picking up nine points and 16 PIM in 39 games before he was claimed off waivers by Detroit in late February, where he went scoreless while registering 10 hits in the final five games of the shortened campaign. The 24-year-old winger is likely debating on sticking in the NHL in a lesser role with the Red Wings or heading overseas for a larger role and potentially a larger payday.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
Timashov became an NHL regular with the Maple Leafs in 2019-20, notching nine points in 39 games before the Red Wings snagged him off waivers. The 24-year-old winger didn't score in his five appearances with Detroit, but he's nonetheless expected to have a spot on the Opening Night roster in 2020-21. Timashov is more of a physical force than a scorer, having racked up 93 hits in his 44 NHL outings last year. His speed will keep the Red Wings interested in giving him chances to succeed, so expect the Ukrainian-born winger to see middle-six minutes. He'll likely challenge the 20-point mark and provide plenty of hits, making him worth a look in deeper formats that reward physicality.
