SLATE PREVIEW
Following the long weekend, all six of Tuesday's games will start at their normal times, starting at 7 p.m. EST. There are a couple intriguing matchups, including Maple Leafs at Blue Jackets, where the Jackets offense might have a field day with the Leafs' defense and goaltending, which is really struggling all of a sudden. There's also a divisional matchup between the Sharks and Ducks, the first time the two have met this season.
GOALIES
Sergei Bobrovsky, FLA vs. NSH ($8,300): The Preds are good but they're even close to being in the Panthers' class, and their greatest strength – goaltending – has been very poor lately with four straight losses. The Preds defense is also lacking quality depth, and the losses compound when they also don't provide much goal support. Meanwhile, Bobrovsky is 10-6-1 all-time against the Preds and the Panthers have lost just three times in regulation since Jan. 1.
Ville Husso, STL at PHI ($8,000): The Blues should be riding high after defeating the Leafs in their last game, a strong bounce-back performance after losing to the Habs in the prior game. The Leafs' defense and goaltending has all of a sudden become very suspect, and the Blues seem no worse for wear even with Vladimir Tarasenko out of the lineup. Husso has won three of his past four games but note that he's also allowed nine goals in that span though his save percentage and goals-against is still very good overall.
Cam Talbot, MIN at OTT ($7,800): Both Talbot or Kaapo Kahkonen should be worthwhile starts against the Sens. Kahkonen is coming off a 7-3 defeat of the Oilers while Talbot might be the riskier play having lost both of his previous starts with 12 goals allowed. One thing the Wild definitely don't have to worry about is providing goal support for their goalies, and they've won nine straight meetings against the Sens dating back to 2016.
John Gibson, ANH vs. SJ ($7,000): The Ducks looked like a hungry bunch in a 7-4 defeat of the Canucks on Saturday, finishing their eighth game on the road over a three-week stretch. The Sharks, on the other hand, have lost six in a row and trying to place band-aids on the situation, claiming Ryan Dzingel off waivers. Momentum is on the Ducks' side at the moment and it'll be the first meeting between the two teams this season.
VALUE PLAYS
Oliver Bjorkstrand, CBJ vs. TOR ($5,700): Bjorkstrand has scored a point in five of his past six games and third on the team in goals behind Boone Jenner and Patrik Laine. He's slated to play opposite Gustav Nyquist, who is on a three-game point streak, with Cole Sillinger at center. There might some surplus value here with a red-hot Jackets offense facing the Leafs playing the second half of a back-to-back.
Sam Steel, ANA vs. SJ ($3,700): Steel is making the most of his opportunity with Ryan Getzlaf injured, skating on the top line with Sonny Milano and Troy Terry. Trevor Zegras still offers the most upside, obviously, but Steel's sixth goal of the season in his last game snapped a five-game goal drought. Asides from top-line duty, Steel is also expected to skate on the top power play unit.
LINE STACKS
Wild at Senators
Frederick Gaudreau (C - $4,800), Kevin Fiala (W - $6,200), Matt Boldy (W - $6,000)
Boldy found the score sheet again after a two-game absence with two points, and Gaudreau remains a good value play playing between two very good scoring wingers. Fiala finished with three points last game and continues to dominate in 2022 with 20 points in 17 games.
DEFENSEMEN
Noah Dobson, NYI at SEA ($6,300): Dobson is an intriguing play because the Isles offense isn't very reliable, but the young defenseman has played a much bigger role since the first two months of the season. He had just four assists in his first 15 games, but in the 28 games since has scored 18 points while averaging over 22 minutes per game.
Calen Addison, MIN at OTT ($3,500): Addison's minutes will be limited because he's still unreliable at 5-on-5, but he should play a role on the power play. The Sens should not be a touch matchup given how the Wild have been playing lately, and Addison's offensive upside could make him a worthwhile gamble at this salary. He was held without a point against the Oilers but scored two points against the Blackhawks in the prior game.
