FanDuel NHL: Sunday Showdown Breakdown

FanDuel NHL: Sunday Showdown Breakdown

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Sunday is a quiet day in the NHL with just a lone game on the slate, as the Senators host the Stars at 5 p.m. EDT.

SLATE PREVIEW

Longevity is the biggest factor in this one-game matchup. Both teams will be coming into this matchup on back-to-backs with Ottawa getting the home-ice advantage. Dallas and Ottawa have also been involved in goalfests, excluding one each respectively. However, the biggest difference-maker will be whether Brady Tkachuk makes his long-awaited season debut.

CAPTAIN

Brady Tkachuk, OTT vs. DAL ($15,500): In 56 games last year, Tkachuk put up 17 goals and 19 assists. The talented winger will look to hit the ground running as soon as possible now that he's officially signed a new contract. Dallas doesn't offer the defense to counter Tkachuk's physical presence. And if he does in fact suit up, he'll also have the freshest legs on the ice and should easily hit value.

Jacob Peterson, DAL vs. OTT ($6,500): The rookie has taken the ice by storm and showed his potential in his first game by potting a goal. The winger is immediately being trusted with a top-six role and top power-play minutes. Peterson doesn't offer a very high floor, but his ceiling is one of the best on the Stars.

UTIL PLAYS

Shane Pinto, OTT vs. DAL ($6,000): Pinto has come into this season with a point to make. After putting together a 1-6-7 line in 12 appearances during his rookie campaign, he set the stage during the preseason with a 2-2-4 line and 12 shots. Pinto has yet to take a shot or get his first point in the regular season, but it's only a matter of time until he starts to lead this young Senators squad.

Jamie Benn, DAL vs. OTT ($9,500): Another power forward is on the slate, and he just so happens to have his playmaking center back with him. Benn and Tyler Seguin have formed quite the formidable duo since they joined forces, which only boosts the value of playing them together. Throughout last season, Benn struggled more often than not, and it contributed to one of his worst seasons ever with only 35 points across 52 appearances. Now that Seguin is back with him, he should significantly outperform those numbers.

Ryan Suter, DAL vs. OTT ($8,000): Suter brings much-needed veteran experience to the Stars' roster. During his career in Minnesota, he was relied on to play at both ends of the ice. However, Dallas is relying more on Suter's offensive skills than anything else. Through two appearances, he's averaged 0.5 assists and 2.5 shots. He makes for a great option who will hit value more often than not.

Thomas Chabot, OTT vs. DAL ($12,500): Chabot is the quarterback for Ottawa's top power play and thrives when producing shots and blocks. With Dallas traveling to Ottawa for a back-to-back, he'll look to reap the rewards against a tired Stars club.
