Yahoo DFS Hockey: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

Saturday offers an all-day slate, as four games start before 2:00 p.m. ET with 12 total games. This article will cover the entire day, so read on for tips and tricks to set your DFS lineups.

GOALIE

Elvis Merzlikins, CLS vs. SJ ($25): Hop on the bandwagon! It seems Merzlikins doesn't feel the pressure of being the No. 1. Since Joonas Korpisalo went down with a knee injury, Merzlikins has allowed just one goal in each start, defeating the Bruins and the Panthers in the process. Take on the risk again versus the Sharks, who have lost five of their last seven games with just 2.1 goals for per contest.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Carey Price, MON vs. PIT ($28): Price is having a rough stretch, going 2-4-0 over his last six starts while posting an .870 save percentage. He shows occasional flashes of his old form, but he hasn't been able to sustain. The Penguins provide a tough matchup, as they rank seventh in the last three weeks with 3.17 GF/60 at even strength.

CENTER

Anthony Cirelli, TB at OTT ($17): The 22-year-old pivot continues to be a fixture in the top six, and he's produced five points in as many games. His ceiling is intriguing as well with eight multi-point games at the halfway point. His price tag is a steal since the Senators have yielded 15 goals over the last three contests.

CENTER TO AVOID

William Karlsson, VGK vs. STL ($23): Karlsson has 10 goals this year but hasn't lit the lamp in nine straight games. A matchup against the Blues doesn't make matters any easier, as the defending champs rank fifth in the league with a 2.64 GAA.

WING

William Nylander, TOR vs. NYI ($21): Nylander could be a chalky play in this matchup, as he's been stacking the scoresheet. The 23-year-old has eight goals and six assists over the last seven games, with five of those points coming on the man advantage. The Islanders have been vulnerable in the crease lately too, yielding 3.18 GA/60 at even strength over the last nine contests.

Alex Galchenyuk, PIT at MON ($12): Galchenyuk's getting time on the top line with Evgeni Malkin since Jake Guentzel will likely miss the rest of the regular season. In his first game alongside Malkin, Galchenyuk dished out an assist and directed four shots on net, and Montreal's aforementioned struggling crease will afford Galchenyuk a massive ceiling at a bargain.

WINGS TO AVOID

Taylor Hall, ARI vs. PHI ($25): We know the 28-year-old has massive potential, but this is a steep price to pay since he hasn't displayed it yet. Hall has spent eight games with the Coyotes, but he hasn't produced a multi-point game yet. Philadelphia ranks ninth in the league with a 2.88 GAA.

Timo Meier, SJ at CLS ($19): Meier has gone pointless in six of the last seven games, and he even failed to fire a shot on net in two of those contests. The 23-year-old snuck in a hat trick during that span, but I'm projecting him for another bust against the Blue Jackets' suddenly stellar crease situation.

DEFENSE

Torey Krug, BOS vs. EDM ($21): Krug didn't miss a beat in his return to the lineup, setting up a power-play goal. The Oilers are an ideal opponent, as they've let in a league-high 3.30 GA/60 at even strength since the beginning of December.

Keith Yandle, FLA at BUF ($20): Yandle will flirt with a new career high in scoring this year, as he's accumulated 32 points -- 17 with the man advantage -- through 40 games. His power-play prowess puts him in an excellent position against the Sabres, who rank 28th with a 74.0 penalty-kill percentage.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Alexander Edler, NYR at VAN ($25): A high-priced option that isn't afforded many offensive opportunities. Edler starts just 48.9 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, and he hasn't lit the lamp since Nov. 16. It's tough to cough up this amount of dough for him with a low ceiling in tow.

Ryan Pulock, NYI at TOR ($18): Pulock is averaging 0.5 points per game, but he's only starting 39.2 percent of shifts in the offensive zone and has accrued a putrid 44.6 Corsi For percentage. Meanwhile, he'll face off against a red-hot Frederik Andersen, who has recorded a .947 save percentage over the past two games.
