FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

The Sunday slate in the NHL is a short three-gamer, but there is value to be had. When building your lineups, consider these players as potential solid contributors.

GOALIE

Reto Berra, ANA vs BUF ($7,400): Berra should start as John Gibson is nursing an injury. Berra came on in relief of Gibson in the Ducks' last game and performed admirably, stopping 19 of 20 shots. The Sabres are a team that gets a good amount of pucks to the net, and with Berra's salary in mind, his upside is solid in a game the Ducks should win.

CENTER

Brock Nelson, NYI at LA ($4,200): The Islanders continue their West Coast swing with a matchup against the Kings. Heading into Saturday, Nelson had two goals and one assist this season with both goals coming against the Ducks on Oct. 11. He centers the top line and the team's second power-play unit and is a nice bargain at $4,200.

Cody Eakin, VGK vs BOS ($4,600):
The Golden Knights play host to the Bruins, who are reeling. Eakin centers a line with veteran David Perron and James Neal, who has had a red-hot stick to start the season. He plays a good share of ice time at more than 19 minutes per game and has two assists. Getting a top line center and one that plays on the top power-play unit for $4,600 is a great value.

WING

Jakob Silfverberg, ANA vs BUF ($4,800): Silfverberg is off to a slow start as he has just one point in the Ducks' first five games entering last night. He gets plenty of ice time on the second line and top power-play unit at about19 minutes per game and averages 3.4 shots on goal. The points will start coming for Silfverberg, and this is a good spot to roster him against a Buffalo team that is lacking defensively.

David Perron, VGK vs BOS ($5,100):
Perron has assists in each of his last three games and averages more than 18 minutes of ice time per game this season. Along with skating with Eakin and Neal at full strength, the trio sees time together on the power-play and make for a nice stack with good upside on this slate.

Patrick Eaves, ANA vs BUF ($4,300):
The Ducks welcomed Eaves back a couple games ago from injury and he responded by scoring a goal in his first game. He's slotted in on the team's top line and top power-play unit. Getting exposure to him at the modest price of $4,300 makes him a great value for the Ducks, who should be able to light the lamp.

DEFENSE

Cam Fowler, ANA vs BUF ($4,900): As long as Fowler is this cheap, I'm going to keep playing him. Plain and simple. The Sabres have shown lapses in their defense, Fowler sees a ton of ice time, runs the point on the top power-play unit and is always looking to get the puck on net.

Brandon Carlo, BOS at VGK ($3,600):
Carlo notched his second assist of the season Saturday and continues to be a solid performer on the blue line for the Bruins. At just $3,600, Carlo averages about 20 minutes of ice time per game skating on the top pairing. It doesn't take much for Carlo to hit value, and I expect him to do so Sunday.
