2023 Fantasy Outlook
McSorley, who was with Arizona since the second half of the 2021 season, now figures to serve as the Patriots' third-stringer behind Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe. The 2019 sixth-rounder appeared in six games (one start) with the Cardinals last year, completing 45 of 83 pass attempts for 412 yards, no touchdowns and five interceptions while also adding 61 yards on 15 rushes. If injuries press McSorley into action, the 6-0, 202-pounder's mobility would add another wrinkle to the team's attack, but the 27-year-old has limitations as a passer. Read Past Outlooks

McSorley was cut from the Steelers' practice squad Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
McSorley joined the Steelers' practice unit in early December after starting quarterback Kenny Pickett suffered an ankle injury, but with Pickett now healthy, it appears as if the team no longer needs McSorley around. The 28-year-old will now look for his next opportunity elsewhere.

After joining the Cardinals last November, McSorley was a healthy scratch or didn't play in the team's final six games of the regular season and then the wild-card loss to the Rams. Prior to his stint in Arizona, he made three appearances for the Ravens between 2019 and 2020, completing three of 10 passes and running six times for 18 yards. With Colt McCoy on IR to begin this season, McSorley will serve as Kyler Murray's backup for at least the first four games.
With Robert Griffin gone, McSorley is now competing with Tyler Huntley to be the direct backup to Lamar Jackson. McSorley has an edge on Huntley in terms of experience within the system (two years) and in actual game action. The former Penn State quarterback saw time against both the Steelers and Browns last season, going 3-for-10 for 90 yards and a touchdown while adding 17 rushing yards. McSorley is raw as a passer and it's unclear how much improvement is projectable with him, but he's an athletic quarterback who fits what the Ravens need in a backup.
The rookie out of Penn State is a perfect fit for a Baltimore system that puts an emphasis on athleticism in its quarterbacks. McSorley may be undersized at 6-0, 202, but his athletic testing at the combine was impressive; his 40-yard dash, short shuttle, vertical and broad jumps were all in the 80th percentile or higher among quarterbacks. That athleticism was evident in college, as McSorley racked up 1,289 rushing yards and 23 scores his last two seasons. There are warts to his game, of course. His completion percentage fell to 53.2 as a senior under a new offensive coordinator, and he has middling arm strength. He will likely serve as the third-string quarterback behind Lamar Jackson and Robert Griffin III as a rookie, but don't be surprised if McSorley occasionally gets on the field in packages with two quarterbacks.
