24-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
San Francisco 49ers
2020 Fantasy Outlook
Hurd essentially redshirted his rookie year with a back injury after being selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The 6-5 wideout has a unique combination of size and athleticism as a former running back. Prior to his injury, the 49ers' coaching staff envisioned Hurd as a potential option in the slot as well as a move tight end. We did get a brief glimpse of his ability in a two-touchdown preseason showing before he got hurt, but Hurd remains a giant question mark - albeit an intriguing one - heading into the 2020 season. Cleared from injury

Hurd (back) has been medically cleared and resumed running this offseason, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Hurd missed all but two preseason games during his rookie campaign with a stress fracture in his lower back. The 2019 third-round pick put his red-zone abilities on display with two touchdown grabs from inside the 20 in his first exhibition action last year. Standing at 6-foot-4, Hurd is easily San Francisco's tallest receiver, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him used when the offense gets closer to the end zone. The 49ers lost Emmanuel Sanders and Marquise Goodwin this offseason, and its only significant additions were two rookies via the draft, so there is an opportunity for the unproven Hurd to carve out a role behind Deebo Samuel and Kendrick Bourne whenever the 2020 season gets rolling.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
The 49ers expended a third-round pick on Hurd, but there may not be a rookie with more question marks surrounding his role heading into the 2019 season. This isn't meant to be a slight on the talented prospect, but more of a question regarding where and when he'll be on the football field this season. The 6-5 Baylor product was drafted as a wideout, but he was recruited as a five-star running back, and the 49ers have already stated they plan on trying him out at tight end in the future. San Francisco clearly has a talented player with size and athleticism to play conceivably anywhere on the field, and it will be exciting to see how offensive wizard Kyle Shanahan chooses to deploy his new tool.
