25-Year-Old Tight EndTE
Arizona Cardinals
2019 Fantasy Outlook
Arnold was unable to crack the Saints' 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie in 2017, but he broke through after converting to tight end during the 2018 offseason. Listed at 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds, Arnold brings ideal size at the position, while his non-elite speed (4.63 40-yard-dash time) is less of a concern at tight end than it was when he played receiver. Since he was still getting his feet wet at tight end, Arnold wasn't used much in the first half of the season, but he flashed some promising upside from Weeks 10 through 13. During that four-game stretch, Arnold snagged 10 of 13 targets for 115 yards, with three of his receptions going for 20-plus yards. While the Saints' decision to replace Benjamin Watson with one of the league's more adept pass-catching tight ends in Jared Cook hinders Arnold's outlook, coach Sean Payton will find ways to get Arnold on the field more often in 2019 if the 24-year-old makes the strides the staff believes he can after a second offseason of work at the new position. Flashes in brief stint with team
TEArizona Cardinals
January 9, 2020
Arnold posted six receptions (on 10 targets) for 102 yards and two touchdowns in three games with the Cardinals in 2019.
ANALYSIS
A late-season pickup off waivers, Arnold made his presence felt, which cannot be said for the other TEs employed by the Cards this season. Both Charles Clay (calf) and Maxx Williams barely surpassed 200 receiving yards while playing entire campaigns (sans Week 17 for the former). Looking at the efficiency metrics in Arnold's brief career to date -- 8.4 YPT and three TDs on 33 targets in 15 games between Arizona and New Orleans -- Arnold has flashed receiving talent in two locales that promote it. With Clay set for unrestricted free agency in March, Arnold and Williams are set to serve as the team's top tight ends next year, assuming no other additions at the position.
