2019 Fantasy Outlook
Vannett battled a back injury during the early portion of last season, and he was mostly inconsistent for the remainder of the campaign. In his third season, Vannett averaged fewer than two catches per game and reached paydirt just three times. He will be in a battle again for snaps with Will Dissly and Ed Dickson, and Dissly's upside is enough reason to keep Vannett off fantasy rosters. Read Past Outlooks

One catch in win
TEPittsburgh Steelers
October 13, 2019
Vannett caught his only target for five yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Vannett has yet to see more than two targets in a game this season, but he was on the field for 36 snaps compared to 39 for Vance McDonald, who was dealing with a shoulder stinger heading into this contest. The Steelers' run-heavy philosophy in Week 6 also hindered this already erratic TE picture, though McDonald could sneak back into fantasy relevance in Week 8 versus the Dolphins after a bye. Vannett would return to the background if McDonald can heal up in the interim.

How often does Nick Vannett run a route when on the field for a pass play?
This data will let you see how Nick Vannett and the other tight ends for the Steelers are being used. Some tight ends may have a lot of snaps, but they're not that useful for fantasy purposes because they're not actually running routes. This data will help you see when this is the case.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2018
2017
2016
A third-round pick in 2016, Vannett hasn't had much opportunity to do anything with the Seahawks, playing behind Jimmy Graham and Luke Willson the last two years. Graham and Willson are gone, leaving Vannett in spot where he can actually contribute this season. Seattle signed veteran Ed Dickson and drafted Will Dissly in the fourth round, but both of those tight ends are blockers first. At 6-5, 261, Vannett is the biggest of the trio. The Seahawks likely won't pass as much at the goal line this season, but when they do, Vannett could get his number called.
Vannett is expected to be the third tight end again this season. That doesn't mean much, though, with Jimmy Graham and Luke Willson around. Vannett caught three passes in nine games last season. Expect more of the same this season.
The Seahawks selected Vannett in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft with the hope that he'll provide additional run-blocking support, so he likely won't be used much in the passing game, thus limiting his fantasy value. Jimmy Graham and Luke Willson are the clear top-2 pass-catching options at tight end, but Vannett could boost the production of running back Thomas Rawls with his blocking power.
