ANALYSIS
Turbin will be scrutinized for his injury history -- he missed the 2007 (foot) and 2010 (knee) seasons -- but the issues did not seem to have any lingering effects, and Turbin didn't really have trouble with injuries otherwise. Although he's listed by Utah State at 216 pounds, it wouldn't be surprising if Turbin weighed in closer to 230 for predraft workouts. His intimidating appearance correctly implies that he possesses standout strength for a running back, but Turbin was still an excellent big-play threat for Utah State. He overcomes his lack of top-end speed by seeing the field well and displaying above average explosiveness. He has unusually quick feet that allow him to create enough separation from defenders in short spaces that, in many cases, his lack of long speed still doesn't result in him getting caught from behind. Turbin is also a standout as far as pass catching goes, both in the flats and as a downfield route runner. Although he probably won't do well enough with the stopwatches to get drafted in the same range as players like Trent Richardson, Lamar Miller, David Wilson and Chris Polk -- and maybe not even guys like Doug Martin, Cyrus Gray and Bernard Pierce -- Turbin is a player who will likely wow teams with his work ethic and smarts, so it wouldn't be terribly shocking if a character-conscious team made a move for Turbin in the second round. Still, it seems more likely that he'll go in the third or fourth. In the three full seasons (37 games) Turbin played at Utah State, he totaled 3,298 yards (5.9 yards per carry) and 40 touchdowns on the ground while catching 67 passes for 845 yards (12.6 yards per catch) and 11 touchdowns.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2011
2010
The Turbinator had his 2010 season wiped out by a spring knee injury, but he should be his usual dominant self since in 2011 he’s had nearly 1.5 years to recover. He was one of the absolute best players nationwide in 2009, running for 1,296 yards and 13 touchdowns while adding 418 yards and five touchdowns as a pass catcher in 12 games. He probably won’t be quite that good in 2011, but he still figures to be one of the best.
Turbin suffered an ACL tear in the off-season and his mammoth production from 2009 (over 1,700 yards from scrimmage and 18 touchdowns) is probably out of reach. He's expected to play for most or all of 2010, but the team might feel compelled to place him in a timeshare with Michael Smith to keep him healthy.
