On move from Boulder
Alfano (illness) announced Tuesday via his personal Twitter account that he has entered the transfer portal with the intention of leaving Colorado.
ANALYSIS
A five-star recruit from the 2019 cycle, Alfano has had an eventful first two seasons of college. Unfortunately, most of the news about Alfano has occurred off the field, as he still has yet to make his NCAA debut. After beginning his career at Alabama, Alfano was quickly suspended for a disciplinary matter before entering the transfer portal in September 2019. He then transferred to Colorado, only to receive a suspension last spring for violating team rules. After briefly un-enrolling and then re-enrolling at Colorado last summer, Alfano appeared poised to play in 2020, only to sit out the entire season after experiencing seizures as a result of his battle with epilepsy. Alfano was then arrested Jan. 7 on suspicion of harassment and resisting arrest, and then latest off-field incident may have made him a candidate for another suspension heading into 2021. Rather than waiting around for Colorado to decide on his fate, Alfano opted to explore his options elsewhere. Assuming his medical condition and legal situations are resolved and he's in good academic standing entering 2021, Alfano should be able to compete right away at his next school. The redshirt freshman defensive end will have up to four years of eligibility to use.
