Wease, who caught 48 passes for 669 yards and six touchdowns during the 2023 campaign, is returning to the Tigers program for one more season. A foot injury kept Wease out the majority of the year in 2022 after grabbing 37 catches for 530 yards and four touchdowns on 55 targets during the 2020 season. He'll look to impress the new coaching regime beside top returner Marvin Mims and Arizona State transfer LV Bunkley-Shelton. The passing game will be helped out by the Sooners bringing in quarterback Dillon Gabriel from UCF.
Wease will look to improve upon his 2020 production which included 37 catches for 530 yards and four touchdowns on 55 targets. Both Wease and Marvin Mims had 37 catches apiece, however, it was the freshman Mims who made more of his opportunities with nine touchdowns. With Oklahoma averaging 43.0 points per game behind stud quarterback Spencer Rattler, there's a great chance those touchdown opportunities even out during the 2021 season. Wease will also battle Arkansas transfer Mike Woods for targets during the 2021 season. Nonetheless, there's plenty of production to go around to all of the Oklahoma receivers in one of the nation's most dynamic offenses.
Wease projects to be the second receiver on Oklahoma's depth chart behind Charleston Rambo after he grabbed eight catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns during his freshman campaign. With CeeDee Lamb departing early to the NFL, Oklahoma and their new projected starter, Spencer Rattler, will have to establish some new receiving threats. When looking at Lincoln Riley's track record with quarterbacks, there's brewing optimism that Rambo and Wease will be able to fill the void and have productive seasons from the receiver position.
