Bound for NFL
Lower Body
December 1, 2022
Shorter (lower body) announced Thursday via his personal Instagram account that he will forgo playing in Florida's Dec. 17 Las Vegas Bowl matchup with Oregon State to begin preparing for the 2023 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
After logging 29 receptions for 577 yards and two touchdowns across nine appearances before sitting out Florida's Week 13 loss to Florida State with a lower-body injury, Shorter will make the jump to the next level. The 6-foot-4, 223-pound receiver could provide an NFL squad with a big-bodied threat in the red zone.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
Shorter is the leading returning receiver for the Gators following the transfer of Jacob Copeland to Maryland. Shorter tied with Copeland for the team lead with 41 receptions last season, though managed almost 100 fewer yards through the air, finishing the 2021 campaign with 550 receiving yards. Shorter also found the end zone three times as compared to four for Copeland. However, with Copeland out of the picture, Shorter should assume the No. 1 wide receiver role. However, it will be interesting to see how the Florida passing game takes shape under Anthony Richardson, who split duties with the now departed Emory Jones last season. Richardson provided some big plays with both his arm as well as his legs as a freshman, though was not the most accurate passer, completing under 60-percent of his throws.
Shorter played a part-time role in 2020 in a high-octane Florida offense, reeling in 25 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns. The Gators lost a bevy of talent at the skill positions, though, as Kyle Pitts and Kadarius Toney were first round picks in the NFL Draft, and Trevon Grimes also went to the next level. Along with Jacob Copeland, Shorter will have the Herculean task of attempting to replace the standout production of Toney, Grimes and Pitts. Shorter is a huge target at 6-foot-5, 225-lbs, and should prove a red zone threat. Shorter could be a stellar complement to the big-play ability of the aforementioned Copeland, as the latter averaged 18.9 yards per grab last season. A new quarterback in the form of Emory Jones could make for a rocky start to the season, but opportunities should be plentiful for Shorter regardless.
