Snags four passes in season finale
November 27, 2017
Turner caught four passes for 37 yards during Saturday's season finale against Northwestern.
ANALYSIS
Turner missed each of the last two contests due to injury, but he returned to action for the final game of his collegiate career. After a promising junior campaign, the 6-foot-3 wideout failed to catch a touchdown pass in his final season, amassing 31 grabs for 326 yards. His measurables fit that of an NFL wideout and the dip in production was due in part to poor quarterback play, so it's possible Turner sneaks into the late rounds of the NFL draft with a strong pro day.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
Turner (6-3, 205) distinguished himself from the rest of the Illini receiving corps in 2016, leading the team in receptions (48), receiving yards (712) and receiving touchdowns (six) -- all by significant margins. Each of the next two pass-catchers on the list -- Justin Hardee and Zach Grant -- departed as seniors, leaving an inexperienced group heading into 2017. Turner should lead the group again this season, though Lovie Smith's run-heavy gameplan and the graduation of three-year starter Wes Lunt could result in a slight statistical regression during his senior campaign. However, explosive slot receiver Mikey Dudek's return to the mix could open up portions of the field for the lanky wideout, who will attempt to develop a rapport with expected new signal-caller Chayce Crouch.
The 6-3, 205-pound Turner is almost a carbon copy to former Illini receiver Geronimo Allison from a physical standpoint as a tall, lanky receiver that can cause problems for smaller defensive backs. Turner posted respectable numbers as the No. 3 wideout in Illinois’ system in 2015, catching 39 of 71 targets (54.9%) for 510 yards (13.1 YPC) and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, top option Allison was targeted 129 times. While there is going to be a system change under new offensive coordinator Garrick McGee, there’s still reason for optimism that Turner can fill a role similar to Allison’s and become quarterback Wes Lunt’s favorite target. Rising sophomore Desmond Cain will likely get plenty of targets as well, but at 5-11, 185, Turner figures to be the Illini’s biggest red zone threat in the passing game.
