2019 Fantasy Outlook
As a sophomore last season, Wilson averaged 5.8 points (41.4 FG%, 36.2 3P%, 55.3 FT%), 4.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.0 three, 0.4 steals and 0.4 blocks in 18.4 minutes across 48 appearances. Over the summer, the Bucks replaced free agent Nikola Mirotic with Robin Lopez and Dragan Bender, so Wilson won't necessarily see a substantial increase in playing time in 2019-20. That said, he earned just 3.2 minutes per tilt across 22 games as a rookie, so Wilson taking another step forward is certainly within the realm of possibility. At the moment, Wilson figures to slot in behind both of the Lopez brothers on the team's center depth chart. Still, he could end up challenging the 32-year-old Ersan Ilyasova for the backup power forward gig. Regardless of Wilson's role, Milwaukee boasts a deep roster with championship aspirations, and the 23-year-old big man is unlikely to be a valuable commodity across most fantasy formats. Wilson's best game of the season occurred during an 11-point loss to the Thunder on Apr. 10, when he posted 18 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and one steal across 47 minutes. The points and rebounds represented career highs. Wilson was also a part of a very successful five-man lineup containing himself, Eric Bledsoe, Sterling Brown, Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez. That group was plus-30.9 points per 100 possessions. Wilson's playing time also extended into the postseason. Arguably his best G League performance occurred Dec. 1 in a win over the Iowa Wolves. 2017 Fantasy Outlook
Wilson had a breakout campaign last year at Michigan, posting 11.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 assists across 30.4 minutes per game while shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from deep. He fits the Bucks’ gameplan – postionless and long – almost perfectly. Wilson is 6-foot-10 with a 7-foot-3 wingspan and projects to be a small forward/power forward at the NBA level. In addition to being a solid three-point shooter, he also has the ability to put the ball on the deck and make a move, which he can utilize as defenders close out on him aggressively on the perimeter. He’s also more than athletic enough to get out and run in transition and make smooth off-ball cuts – two things Milwaukee also likes to do. He may struggle at the NBA level rebounding and finishing at the rim, however, as he currently has a thin frame, weighing in at just 235 pounds. Defense could be an issue as well, as the Bucks play a switch-heavy defense, which could result in him matching up against bulky power forwards that could body him on the way to the rack. While he probably won’t garner a workload conducive to consistent Fantasy production, Wilson could end up seeing semi-rotational minutes next season, especially with Jabari Parker out until around February with a torn ACL.
