Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

After a packed slate Monday, we have only have two games on the docket in the NBA on Tuesday. One has the potential to be a blowout, too, with the Nuggets hosting the Wizards. This might be a little tricky to navigate in DFS, but here are some players who could still help you finish in the money, as well as a few to avoid.

GUARDS

Jamal Murray, DEN vs. WAS ($28): As far as the four teams in action go, the one to attack is the Wizards. They've played at the fifth-fastest pace and allowed the second-most points per game in the league. Murray might not carry the same upside as Luka Doncic ($54) and Bradley Beal ($44) do, but he's scored at least 37.7 Yahoo points in four straight games and should have a relatively high floor based on this matchup.

Jordan McRae, WAS at DEN ($10): The Wizards lack of depth has opened up some added opportunities for McRae, who has logged at least 19 minutes in three of his last four games. He's stated his case to continue with that expanded role by scoring at least 23.3 Yahoo points in each of those three contests. At the minimum price, he's worth a look in tournament play if you're going with a stars and scrubs approach.

Guard to Avoid

Isaiah Thomas, WAS at DEN ($16): It might not be a bad idea for the Wizards to start bringing Thomas off the bench again. He played their first three games in that role, averaging 16.3 points, three rebounds and 7.3 assists. Since moving into the starting five, he's averaged 11.6 points, 1.1 rebounds and five assists across nine contests. Facing a Nuggets team that has allowed the fewest points per game makes Thomas an awfully risky option.

FORWARDS

Paul George, LAC at DAL ($44): The Clippers wisely let George slowly work his way back from injury. They have championship aspirations, so there was no need to rush him back to play games in October. He certainly looks completely healthy now, averaging 25 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.2 steals across six games since making his return. What's even more impressive is that he averaged only 29 minutes during that stretch. He can be had for a few dollars cheaper than Kawhi Leonard ($47) and carries similar upside, so he might be the better choice between the Clippers' two stars.

Will Barton, DEN vs. WAS ($23): Barton could be extremely dangerous in a game that has the potential to play at a faster pace than the Nuggets are accustomed to. He's one of the better scoring options on the team, which has enabled him to average 15.4 points and a career-high two three-pointers a night. He's also been a valuable source for rebounds and assists, leaving him to score at least 30.2 Yahoo points in eight of his last 10 games.

Forward to Avoid

Rui Hachimura, WAS at DEN ($19): Even though they play at a fast pace, I'm worried about several Wizards' players considering how strong the Nuggets are on the defensive end. Hachimura is already in a bit of a slump right now having scored 25.4 Yahoo points or fewer in five straight games. This doesn't have the makings of a matchup that is favorable for him to get back on track.

CENTERS

Nikola Jokic, DEN vs. WAS ($40): The only thing that might be able to stop Jokic is a blowout. The Wizards are thin up front, which is part of the reason why they've allowed the second-most Yahoo points per game to opposing centers. With Jokic's ability to contribute across the board, the sky is the limit for him here.

Moritz Wagner, WAS at DEN ($11): Wagner had a difficult time finding the floor for the Lakers last season, but the Wizards need him to play more due to their lack of quality options. He's still only averaging 19 minutes a night, but his 23.1 percent usage rate and 63.2 percent shooting from the field has still made him a viable DFS option. If you want to fade Jokic in tournament play, rolling with Wagner at the five and loading up at guard and forward could be a viable strategy.

Center to Avoid

Montrezl Harrell, LAC at DAL ($31): The reason I'd consider avoiding Harrell is because of how favorable of a matchup Jokic has. He has a much higher ceiling and is only nine dollars more, which is not a lot when you consider the price range that Jokic has been in, historically. There will be plenty of other nights in which Harrell is a prime target, but this might not be one of them.
