2024 Fantasy Outlook
Daniel was limited to just 29.1 innings in the minors in 2023 because of shoulder trouble, but he was healthy enough to make three appearances for the Angels to end the year, and he allowed no runs in two of those three chances. He also pitched well in the Arizona Fall League after the season with 1.89 ERA and 25/5 K/BB in 19 innings, and he's expected to compete for a rotation spot this spring. The 26-year-old doesn't have an elite fastball as the pitch rarely gets above 93 mph, but he throws four unique offerings and is generally in the strike zone with his arsenal. Daniel could be worth look as a streamer in 2024, but the lack of swing-and-miss potential limits his fantasy value to nothing more. Read Past Outlooks

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Daniel was called up to the Angels briefly last June, but he was sent back down two days later without seeing any game action. He otherwise spent the entire season with Triple-A Salt Lake, posting a 4.49 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 21 starts. Daniel posted good strikeout numbers between three levels during his first pro season in 2021, but he curiously regressed last year, recording a modest 19.4% strikeout rate. His fastball tops out in the mid-90s, but it has good spin rate up in the zone and is complemented by a decent curveball. Daniel has also been working on improving his changeup, which could help him round out a more complete arsenal. There isn't front-of-rotation potential in Daniel's skill set, but he's worked almost exclusively as a starter in the minors and could compete for a back-end big-league rotation spot as soon as the upcoming campaign. He'll be an underdog to secure that role out of spring training and will most likely open the campaign back at Triple-A.
