RotoWire's Top 100 Prospects: Chapman Ascends to Number One

RotoWire's Top 100 Prospects: Chapman Ascends to Number One

This article is part of our Top 200 Prospects series.

Players who have exceeded rookie qualifications (130 at-bats, 50 innings) are not included. Players dropped from the list for this reason include: Ryan Kalish, Logan Morrison, Drew Storen, Brett Wallace, Andrew Cashner, Chris Heisey, Carlos Carrasco, Jason Castro, and Mat Gamel.

All prospect lists are a blend of short-term, medium-term, and long-term potential. We try to consider both fantasy and "real life" baseball in mind when doing these lists. As a result, this list looks different than if we were looking solely at pure baseball ability, or if we focused entirely on fantasy value. Obviously you'll need to adjust your investments based on the context in which your fantasy team plays.

I try to avoid big swings in value for a certain player from list to list, to avoid "flavor of the month" syndrome and overreaction to a cold streak or hot streak, although there are more drastic changes on this particular version than are usual for me, being that it is an end-of-season list.

This is the first list that includes players from the 2010 draft, which also impacts the number of changes.

1) Aroldis Chapman, LHP, Cincinnati Reds ETA 2011

2) Bryce Harper, OF, Washington Nationals ETA 2013

3) Jeremy Hellickson, RHP, Tampa Bay Rays ETA 2011

4) Domonic Brown, OF, Philadelphia Phillies ETA 2011

5) Jesus Montero, C, New York Yankees ETA 2011

6) Julio Teheran, RHP, Atlanta Braves ETA 2012
