Yahoo DFS Baseball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Baseball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Wednesday's main MLB slate begins at 7:05 PM Eastern time and features nine games. Below, you'll find which individual pitchers and hitters are primed to provide the best value, as well as the top lineup stacking options in this slate.

Pitching Overview

This slate features a lot of mediocre pitchers, but one member of the top price tier stands out from the pack matchup-wise. While Charlie Morton ($55) and Jake Odorizzi ($48) will face off in Minnesota, both have tough matchups against each other's strong teams. Meanwhile, Texas' Mike Minor ($51) could well outperform them both, as he'll face a Tigers offense that's hot on Miami's heels for worst in the league.

Speaking of the Marlins, Patrick Corbin ($42) is primed to find success against them here. The Washington southpaw is an especially strong value play considering his price is as low as it's been all season.

If you're looking to save up for some premier sluggers, Zac Gallen ($31) could end up providing strong bang for the buck in his first career home start for the Marlins against the middling Nationals offense. Gallen impressed in his June 20 major-league debut, striking out six Cardinals in five one-run innings.

Value Plays/Chalk

In addition to certain Athletics, Cubs and Astros hitters, some individuals from other teams stand out as options to target.

Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman ($26) has a robust .423 wOBA against right-handed pitching, while Cubs righty Yu Darvish has an ugly 5.91 ERA at Wrigley Field this season and has never won there.

Angels DH Shohei Ohtani can be had for $18 in an outfield spot, and he should be in the lineup with the team back home after being relegated to pinch-hitting duties for a few NL road games. Ohtani has a .409 wOBA against righties at home, while Reds starter Tanner Roark has surrendered a .375 wOBA to batters from the left side.

Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto can be had for just $12. The right-handed slugger has a .349 wOBA against lefties and will face an underwhelming one in New York's Jason Vargas.

Stacks

Athletics vs. Adam Wainwright (Cardinals)

Matt Olson (1B - $17), Robbie Grossman (OF - $12), Marcus Semien (SS - $18)

Wainwright has been brutalized by left-handed hitters, who have a .404 wOBA against him this season, while the Athletics do their best work on the road. Olson has a .442 road wOBA, and the switch-hitting Grossman has done his best work from the left side on the road, producing a .405 wOBA. Semien won't have the platoon advantage like his two teammates, but the leadoff man has a solid .385 wOBA in righty-on-right matchups on the road.

Cubs vs. Dallas Keuchel (Braves)

Kris Bryant (3B - $17), Javier Baez (SS - $15), Willson Contreras (C - $13)

Keuchel's season debut last week left a lot to be desired, as the Nationals tagged him for four runs (three earned) on eight hits over five innings. If the veteran southpaw doesn't find his game in a hurry, things will get even worse in Chicago. Bryant's wOBA against lefties is over .450, Baez is just below that mark, and Contreras has a respectable .366 wOBA in that split while filling the difficult catcher position.

Astros vs. Dario Agrazal (Pirates)

Alex Bregman (SS - $19), Michael Brantley (OF - $16), Yordan Alvarez (OF - $27)

The Astros' juggernaut lineup should make life difficult for Pittsburgh's Agrazal, who allowed two runs over four innings in his only other major-league outing. Bregman should find success both against the righty and anybody who comes out of the bullpen, with a .388 wOBA against righties and a .367 mark facing lefties. Brantley is a similarly balanced option but from the left side, with a wOBA over .370 against both right-handed and left-handed pitchers. Meanwhile, Alvarez has absolutely mashed since joining the big leagues, earning a spot in the heart of the order.
