Shiel made his return from a knee injury during Round 19 against GWS.
ANALYSIS
Shiel had torn his meniscus in April and now returns with a month of the season left on the schedule. As he builds up some momentum, Shiel can offer another useful threat on the ball for the Bombers.

Out up to four months
MEssendon Bombers
Knee
April 6, 2021
Shiel suffered a torn meniscus during the Round 2 loss to Port Adelaide and will be out for up to 16 weeks after undergoing surgery.
ANALYSIS
Shiel was already expected to miss at least a month, but his decision to surgically repair the knee will cost him more time. He started the season in decent shape with two goals and 35 disposals through a match-and-a-half, but will now miss much of the regular season. There are still plenty of quality options in midfield for Essendon, so there's less to worry about without Shiel to pick from over the coming months.

Knee
March 29, 2021
Shiell (knee) will miss four-to-six weeks.
ANALYSIS
Shiel sustained damage to his meniscus during the Round 2 loss to Port Adelaide on Saturday and, although it's not an ACL injury, Shield will nevertheless be out for at least the next month. Shiel will undergo a knee arthroscopy sometime this week and the surgery will soon provide a clear timeframe for his return.

Knee
March 27, 2021
Shiel suffered a knee injury during Saturday's Round 2 loss to Port Adelaide, according to coach Ben Rutten. "The doctors don't think [Shiel's injury is] an ACL. It's just locked up a little bit, so he'll have some scans and work out exactly what it is ... but [it didn't look] great."
ANALYSIS
We should learn more about Shiel's injury in the coming week, but the initial report doesn't look optimistic, even if he hasn't torn any ligaments. He's started the season in decent shape with two goals, two behinds and 35 disposals, but this injury could put him out for some time.
Collects 24 disposals in loss
MEssendon Bombers
September 12, 2020
Shiel scored one behind to go with 24 disposals (15 kicks, nine handballs) to go with five tackles and four marks from Saturday's 79-29 loss to Port Adelaide.
ANALYSIS
Shiel was a ble to get his hands on the footy but he and his teammates were outmatched by the league leaders in the difficult conditions of a rainy night. Though not the most consistent, Shiel is still capable of good performances as he's logged no fewer than 20 disposals over his last four Rounds.
Collects 29 disposals in loss
MEssendon Bombers
August 17, 2020
Shiel collected 29 disposals (14 kicks, 15 handballs) while also making four marks and completing five tackles during Sunday's 68-33 loss to Saint Kilda.
ANALYSIS
Shiel had to put in most of the work with the Bombers dealing with a host of injuries to their front line. While this match was indicative of his talents, Shiel either dominates with nearly 30 disposals or barely reaches 20, which makes it harder to predict what he'll do on a weekly basis.
